CueTable Help

The cue ball & 1 ball are in a straight line w/each other & as u can see the 8 ball is hanging in the corner pocket.

For the fun of it, let's say this is in team play, your team has won the match & this is a shot with really no consequences.

You would have to play this perfect, but hit the one very gently on the RIGHT side of it and leave the cue ball corner hooked in the jaws.

When your opponent misses take ball in hand and win the game.

Like I said, you would have to play it perfect, and hope the table is perfect as well.

This shot screams double kiss. Hit hit hard, slight left of center ball, with left spin.

I'd try the 1 rail kick, slow, with this in mind. I could possibly make the 1 if I get lucky, or, I could get a safety out of it if I hit the 1 ball full and it goes into the rail and comes out and blocks the 8. Either way, ya need some luck, IMO. Peace, John.

Let's start by saying that defense is irrelevant here. Even the luckiest of rolls would probably leave a fairly easy one rail kick at the eight.

The one is cuttable with inside english, but the kick is just as easy. The tiebreaker for me is that there is a danger that if you cut the one in, the cue ball may knock the eight in on the same shot.

Hence, I'm playing the kick in of the one here.

For fun? I'd short kick it with inside if it lays well,

START(
%Ar5X9%HD4Z5%PF5Y0%Uq9W8%Vr6W3%Wr2W5%XG3X8%eC2a4

)END

or I'd two rail it (and most likely scratch.)

START(
%Ar5X9%HD4Z5%PF5Y0%Uq9W2%VS2D2%WD3V5%XE6W7%YQ9E2%ZC9U5%eC2a4

)END

One rail is the shot. The one is a big ball here, if you error, favor the long side off the short rail first. I like these shots even if the o/b is by the 1st diamond. It helps to know the table but practice them, you'll like em to.

Of course if you have eagle eyes and a straight stroke cut it in. Inside is ok but your comming right back at the 8, not a good option in this case.

Do the rules state that you can't sink your object ball and drop the eight after if you call the eight?

You never ....

bank or kick a ball if it can be cut in. The shot is very cutable. You could use straight high and be fine, but a little right english might not hurt.

Yes, Tbeaux, you may not call the eight ball if any of your set reamin on the table. Knocking the eight in here would carry a loss of game penalty.

Yeah, except for about a million exceptions. In shot conceptualization, never and always are words meant for the player who is incapable of evaluating positions situationally. The seasoned veteran knows better than to blindly adhere to such rules. Two factors that must be wieghed in shot selection are a) difficulty/simplicity of position play for the various choices available, and b) defensive merits of the various choices available.

Guidelines have their place, but there's no substitute for putting in the effort to study every position to the max to ensure that every aspect of a shot is factored into shot selection.

No twozies here. You make your ball, then call/shoot the 8.
