how would u test/evaluate table playability?

scientifically of course, build quality and esthetics aside,

people are always raving about how such and such a table plays so well yet afaik not too many have actually done any kind of testing including the manufacturers

the subjective opinions are often tainted by things like rubber speed, cloth speed, placebo, etc....

Set Up

honestly a table only plays as good as its set up. I have played on the same table a couple years apart and can honestly say it played way worse after the cut rate hack the owner had "Restore" the table got done. When talking about playability it all depends on the set up. As in rail height, pocket cuts, cloth stretch (or lack there of) slate seams, It all makes a huge diffrence.

I need weight

If I had to choose a table blind....
..I would choose the heaviest one.
It doesn't matter how good the rails are on a table, they won't play
well if the table isn't solid.
Raymond Ceulemans said that an extra quarter inch on a slate is worth
a full length in speed.
