How would you handle this?

A man is running a small local weekly cash tourny. He is also playing in the tourny. He plays another person "B". "A" beats "B". So far no problem.
"A" makes a mistake on the draw sheet. He keeps "B" on the winners side and puts himself on the left side. "B" is now playing again on the winners side. He is up 2-0 in a race to 5.
"A" realizes his mistake. He goes over to "B" and tells him he is playing the wrong player. He should be playing on the wrong side.
If you are "A" how would you handle this? If you are "B" how would you handle this. Keep in mind that "A" is also running the tourny and the prize amount is only about $100 to the winner and maybe $50 to second.

B needs to play the RIGHT person. It was a mistake. A should definately buy B a beer for destroying His next opponents confidence, and for the mistake, lol.

A similar situation happened to me recently. I was playing poorly and had already lost my first match. My next match was called, and my opponent (and friend), Jimmy, beat me 3-0. It was ugly. I don't think I ran more than 3 balls at any point in the match.

Jimmy reported the score to the TD. The TD called us both back over a few minutes later. We were not supposed to have played. I had a first round bye, but Jimmy didn't. He had to play another match, and I was supposed to play the winner of THAT match. The TD apologized, and Jimmy was very nice about it.

Jimmy's next match took almost an hour. During that time, I was practicing, caught a little gear, and started shooting really well.

Jimmy won his match, so we played our match (again). I won 3-0 this time. Jimmy was again very gracious in how he handled that. He shook my hand, wished me luck, and even stuck around to watch my next few matches.

I went on to win my next three matches decisively, 3-1, 3-0, 3-1, before losing a very close match to the eventual winner of the tournament, so I didn't quite make it to the money. Jimmy came up to me later and congratulated me again.

I would think that not everyone would have accepted it so graciously, but Jimmy is one of the good guys.

Tournament Director Mistake

I also run tourneys twice a week, I have made mistakes like this as I always play also. I think you void the wrong match get them playing the right people and reimburse quarters. The buying a beer idea is also top notch. Weekly's are for competition and to stay in stroke, hopefully noone is trying to make a living on weekly's. Had a guy pay his entry when I was away from my sign up sheet and i forgot to put him in, so I'm paying his entry the next time he comes in. Keep it light. Good Luck!
