How Would You Play this One?

Hey bbb,

You'll be surprised how many shots you can translate to pocket billiards from carom. It makes kicking and multi-rail shots look easy. PLUS you learn to have better cue control from it, which is how I started using it. Now I'm hooked, and like it more than pocket.

Still can't get the software to work, but the shot is easy to describe. One-quarter or slightly less hit on the yellow with draw, no sidespin, medium-hard hit. The draw curves the cueball as it comes off the first rail and into the short rail just before the corner and then straight into the red ball.

Thanks, Scratch. That is the one, although I couldn't make it on my table. I like the 12squared idea, too! JJ

Solutions

There are 4 good solutions (that I know of).

Solution # 1 is the 3 rail bank (congratulations to Skratch).

Solution # 2 is Semih's shot. Congratulations to John J and Mbvl and Kycu.

Solution 3 is with slight draw and slight reverse. Soft draw shot. Congratulations to Scottjen26.

Solution 4 is the shot that I would play. Same principle as shot # 3 except I would play it with an 1/4 ball hit and high ball with a hair of running English. Very fast big stroke. If you get the ball deep in the corner it will make. The high ball will hook the ball out of the corner and into the point. One time I actually missed this shot on the short side!

I apologize, I didn't see page 2 of the posts. 12squared's shot is a variation of Semih's bigger shot. Nice idea. And Gongmyo, your solution is my solution # 3, but Sonny Cho told me to use slight reverse and not hard speed. It makes the shot a lot easier.

Years ago, a pool player used to practice a similar shot for hours. He positioned the CB frozen on the long cushion in the middle the rail. He was trying to trap some of the billiard players into a bet! He got to the point where he could make that shot, (which is much more difficult than this diagram), 7 out of 10 attempts.
He shot off the left side of the yellow ball, long, short, long with extreme10 o clock English.

Don't know how to do the pictograph thing.
off the object ball left (middle right english) to the left short rail (1), top long rail (2), bottom long rail (3), short right rail (4). Ball will reverse on the 3rd and 4th rails.
