How would you play this?

I'd intentionally foul back at you.
And then I'd play the cue ball as full as possible into the 6 to drive it as thinly as possible into the 9 and freeze the cue ball to the 7 while taking the 6 to the left end of the table. If the actual ball positions don't allow that, I might play for a nearly full shot of the 6 into the 9, the 6 stops in place, the cue ball follows to hit its right side and the cue ball rolls to the right behind the 7. Either of those plays depends on the precise positions of the balls, but there are good possibilities.

Someone recommended picking up the cue ball and handing it to the opponent. Technically, that's not permitted. Strategically, you are better off doing something else, like freezing the 8 to the cushion.

looks like any way you try to play safe you're more likely than not to get the worst of it. i'd kick one rail at the six and get three balls moving. looks like the seven might cross into the corner.

I would probably just give bih to "ok and below" players. Against a very good player I'll kick 2 rails hard, and hope I slope something.

A soft 2 rail(or 1 rail) kick will most likely bump the 9 in front of the side pocket, and thats not good against any skill level:).

Anyway were not in captains seat here.:)

That's what I meant to say.

LOL. Oh yeah, you get to move the CB on a foul, don't you?

Which is your choice. Then I'd foul back at you and you'd do it again and THEN I would go for something else. I don't mind going down shooting but I lose nothing by taking 2 fouls. You're not running out from here no matter how many times I give you the ball. I'd rather play it out before I go swinging at it.

Believe it or not, I forgot that you get ball in hand after a foul in 9-Ball. LOL.
