My first inclination was to bank the six in the side bumping the 7 like WEI described (similar to unknownPro). I just went down stairs and tried out each of the shots suggested.
1. Bank 6 bump 7 - worked 3 out of 10 times, left very tough 6 times and left an out once when I bumped the 7 and left the 6 in the jaws.
2. Thin the 6 going 2 rails behind the 9 - not good for me - couldn't control the cue ball angle well enough and the 6 leaked out for a shot
3. SJM's bank in corner with cue 4 rails worked better than I thought. Made the bank 4 times, left tough 5 times and sold out once.
4. I don't like tying up the 6 with the cue down table - didn't shoot this. I'm never in favor of a safety that doesn't involve hiding the cue ball. I'll almost always play offense before that option.
So I'm sticking with 6 in the side and bumping the 7. 30% I win that inning without any heroics (or lucky shots) by my opponent. Very easy to leave long 6, jacked up, tucked behind the 7 or my opponent still has to make the long 6 and get back up table for a good safety or miraculous break out.
