OK, I am in the process of running out from the break and due to poor shape on the previous shot this is what I had to settle for. I am shooting solids. How would you play this? Just to let you know I did get out from here.
I thought about this one. I could barely get the solid past the stripe but the guy is a really good shooter and I knew he would have safed me to death.DeadPoked said:I'd send the 1 ball in front of the 13 to block its pocket and try to leave the cue ball behind the 8/15 cluster. I think that is the option in this bad predicament.
You're half right but I didn't bank the ball in the side.cubc said:This is the only thing I can see and dont really "like" it. It pushes the 8 out from the 15 and you will have a shot on the 8 if you can sink that in the side.... that's all I could think of trying and theres no real easy safe at all since his balls are all over.
You got it. I put a little low english on the cueball which gave me forward roll coming off the rail with the one. I had to hit the stripe as flush as I could to get the roll to make the one. It barely dropped but it did drop. The eight popped down to the bottom rail and left me straight in. I was doing some high-fiven after that one.cubc said:Ah you banked it into the 11 and made both? Hoping that if you didnt make both at least it would block that corner pocket and you would still free up the 8?
I dont know if thats right but.. i find that risky because of what can happen hitting balls into other balls and where your ball would be left. At least if you missed the side pocket or hit a titty your ball would be left somewhere in the open which by way of miracle may get in his way or at least if he did make a mistake you could still hit it.
If not... then I'm intrigued as to what you did.
edit: Is this some shot you lucked out on that was really a hail mary like a 3 rail in the lower left corner? or did you have to actually call the pocket and play a skilled shot?

Jude Rosenstock said:You're going to lose but before you do, you should try to figure out a way to open up everything in case your opponent misses. He needs the upper left corner quite a bit so I'd try to leave the 1-ball there and see if I can open up the 8-ball.

Sorry Drew but it was a simple one rail bank. In this case I made it 100% of the time.Drew said:Lol yeah, with some ridiculous 3 rail bank. You lose this 90% of the time.
