how's the pool scene in Austin Texas?

I'm not from this area but am visiting a friend right now and brought my cues to find some action.

I flew in on Tuesday and went to this place on Wednesday night which had free pool after 7PM. There wasn't one person in the place I wouldn't be stealing from, but I was only there for a few hours. Decent full-size Gold Crowns with fast cloth but little action off the rail from the table I was playing on.

Thursday night we went to Buffalo Billiards in downtown Austin. Tables were literally garbage, but this place is right off the main drag. After playing with a buddy for a couple of hours I was closing my tab when a guy at the bar asked if there was any action here. I said no and he asked if I wanted to play a game. He agreed to play some 10-Ball at $20 for a race to 3. Played a few sets with some races to 3/4 at double or nothing every time and after a couple hours we quit. He was a similar speed so I asked about his level and he said he was a BCA Master. He was able to run out but you know how easily us amateurs can screw up.

I planned on playing CJ this weekend since we were heading to Dallas but he's in Tunica. Dallas is over three hours away depending on how you're driving. Galveston is about 3.5-4 hours away.

Actually looking for action myself in Austin when I come back between Mon-Tue. If there are any decent players here, feel free to send me a PM.
 
Im in Killeen and we have 9 foot diamonds if your looking to play some 100 or 200 dollar sets.. Its 45 minutes away from Austin

Have you tried skinny bobs? There is a good amount of action and I am positive you will get a game.

Austin used to be good for action but everyone quit or moved away. If u r looking for action go to skinny Bobs and ask for James Sr. He will make a game with u and play for whatever u decide. If ur a league player then go to skinny bobs and ask for james sr he will set u up. If u just want to play tournies go to skinny bobs and ask for u know who.
 
Austin actiom

Moved here temporarily in January and there is a lot of good players and all the action most could want. Bastrop aka James Davis Sr, Little D David Hansen and tons of others live at skinny bobs, which is where i have found most of the action and better players to be.

What kind of action you want? I can have someone meet you for one pocket, or someone for rotation. Let me know I'll make sure to send you a guy that will give you the chance to make a score, and they are very fair.
