Hoyt cue

Has anyone got any information on Hoyt cues. I recently picked one up and was surprised by the joint,,3/8x10 compression joint.Does he still make cues?Is it worth having a refinish? Small amount of finish dings but nothing appears to go into wood. Thanks

Room owner in MI had one 30+ years ago, think he said Hoyt was a Gunsmith - could be wrong.
