Hi.

I have a Huebler Custom Rose bought around 1990 in Oslo, Norway. Its been with me on a beautiful trip, that consist of two bronze medals in the World Championships, in Chicago and Taiwan, as a Junior Player. Ive also won several European Championships titles with it, not to mention Norwegian Championships.

Ive always loved this cue for its amazing design and craftmanship, but now im thinking about selling it.

What do you think a cue like this is worth? Its in "perfect" condition with leather grip ( cow i think? ) and ive been told that it could be ivory at the bottom. I bought it for around 2000 USD aprox. 20 years ago.

Hi Thomas,

Not that the blue book of cues is that much of a "Bible" on prices, but it lists the Huebler Custom Rose at 1060 USD sales price (3rd edition of the blue book, page 361) and at 950 USD in 98% condition.

If you find the right buyer, they might pay a bit more, but I have seen a couple of nice huebler customs around for 500-600 USD lately and they did not sell at a snap either.

I personally think the Huebler customs are great and would like to have one some time...the Crusader, Floral, Blue Ivory, Cards etc. are all super nice and your Custom Rose as well of course. Sine it seems to have a lot of personal value and memories for you, I would recommend to hang on to it rather than letting it go for less than you feel comfortable...

I hope this was helpful.

hi, and thank u for answering.

Strange about the price, i did infact pay the amount i wrote. But Norway isnt known for being cheap, so that might be the answer :)

Hi Thomas,

I have no doubt that you had to pay much more in your country than the MSRP in the US. In those days a Joss or Schon could cost easy twice the amount here in Germany compared to what it could be bought for in the US.

It is quite normal, by the time something is sent internationally, taxes and customs duties are paid, the local dealer needs to make a living, customs were rare and hard to come by - so it made for a very expensive product to buy outside of the US...that is why many asked people to bring a cue back from the states when they had someone travelling over :-)

Even now for me a bit like it, not as bad, but a cue that I get here on AZB from the US costs me about 30% more by the time I have it shipped here and paid the taxes...

Best regards

Joerg

Custom Rose

The Custom Rose is a very nice Huebler. On the 1991 price sheet I have, it shows the cue recommended retail to be $966. About 2003 the price rose about 20 %. Again in about 2006 0r 2007 the last cue Paul sold and possibly the last Custom Rose specially made sold for over $1600 to a friend of mine. At this time only cues from readily available partially finished cues were available. Soon after Paul lost his last and only employee. It was signed and was recently on ebay with no buyer. Most Customs in the Rose price range are selling under $1000. now. Only a few Customs, the rare ones are more.
I recommend to hold on till the economy picks up if you do not have to sell.
If things are better in Europe you may get a higher amount.

hi, and thx for your answer.

I dont have to sell the cue, not in any way. The thought just crossed my mind, and its funny to actually find out what its worth. If i can only get about 1000 USD for it, i will keep on to it. Maybe in another 20 years its going to be something more off a rarity :)

Hello - I would be interested in purchasing this from you - not sure what it is worth though? Maybe 750 to 1000?
