Huge Surprise? Really? Siming Chen/Daryl Peach

This AZBilliards article titled "Huge Surprises..." starts off with "one of the biggest upsets..." and mentions Siming Chen beating Daryl Peach.

This is not an upset at all, let alone a huge upset. Siming is a better player.

In fact Siming beat Daryl 9-5 and then lost 5-9 to Albin.

So between the two she went 14 wins and 14 losses against opponents rated an average or 775---pretty much just what she is expected to do.

Of course on any given day, any of these three can wollop the other 2. But calling Chen over Peach a huge upset is just a case of not paying attention, imo.

how does fargo respond to her other 2 results?
9 6 to ernst and 8 9 to delgado (why i have the feeling they are not even rated lol)
her win over peach looks more like the upset (which she surely is capabale of) mentioned in the article!
siming cheng is good, but she will NEVER win a event like a eurotour (unlike players in her fargo region who are actually winning eurotours)!

I was watching live and it was no surprise.

Daryl wasn`t at his best at all and giving that he nearly lost to an Austrian amateur in round 1 (he came from 8:3 down) he definitely was the outsider against Chen on that day.

But Chen`s performance wasn`t that brilliant either. She just played two solid games against Peach and a senior player from Germany. Although you can argue that she might have been affected by jetlag and wasn`t used to the playing conditions on the first day.
Running into Ouschan, who was in quite a good form, was a bit unlucky for her, because there were easier opponents left in the tournament.

By the way, Austrian television is still broadcasting live from the women`s tournament:
