i was wondering if it would be possible to execute the folowing idea.
Im a poolplayer from Europe, and as everything that is far away, it makes me dream. Going to the states and checking out the whole poolscene is a dream for everyone i think.
Just as im sure many americans would love to watch the poolaction in europe, asia, etc..
Often these trips cost boatloads, its hard to really plan the trip well as u dont know **** about the place you are going, etc,..
so my idea:
Could we start some human trading thingy.
i mean.
person A lives in europe
person A would like to go to the states.
person A posts a thread about what he would like to do: (visit cuemakers, poolshows, action, tournaments, buy poolrelated items, etc...)
then a person B that lives close to the things person A would like to do, invites player A to stay at there home to stay x amount of days, and visit the differente points of interest together.
then Person B could do the same thing, and go visit player A, and player A will show him around and give him a head above his roof.
the reason why i was thinking of this, is that i really would like to visit the states. but what tournament is the best to watch and even play in? Dcc? Us open?... the entree fee's, hotels, food, beer, transport, airplain, etc will make this trip VERY expensive, and is the main reason why not more people travel the word.
im sure if i knew someone in the states true this forum, that dont minds letting u sleep somewhere, who has a car so u can drive to different places as you dont know the places etc, who knows some cuemakers who would gladly invite you into there shop to show there work, etc..
i could do the same for the person who would do this. i would let him stay in my hoom for some days, take him to the best poolhalls, take him to some tournaments (eurotour, open, etc..), show him some cool places (reymond Ceulemens or wendy jans's poolclub, or just plain nightclubs, or anything that interests you, knows some known poolplayers who would gladly play some rakcs with you. Example: you know john smidt and arange a game between us, and for example i'll arange a game with wendy jans, Niels feyen or anyone else)
just like student swapping at school, but at different periods.
anyway, i know i'd love to watch tim scruggs make some cue's, go to a tradeshow, play in the dcc, do or watch some hustling, play in a bca tournament, play together with a AZ'er (betmore's basement, chalenging the AZ queen Linda, do the meet and greath at the AZroom, etc..) but the costs will be so high, that without any help for a sleeping place, a car, someone who knows the place, i dont think i'll ever do the trip.

ofc there is the problem off; who do you invite in your home..... i wouldnt invite just anyone, but i can easily give you 20 names from AZ that i would invite without hesitation and that i would like to visit. wbm, sjm, linda, colin, renard, donovan, mijanti, blackjack, j smidt, 9mm baretta (though i doubt she would let me sleep in her room
), etc..
