Hurdles. up and down

AZB's Smokey talked me into joining a league and getting out of my basement once in a while. This was a hurdle as I have anxiety issues.

Now after 2 years of APA and many ups and downs. It seems I have another hurdle ahead.

My team won all 3 sessions in 2011 in 8 ball. We are qualified to play in Nashville for our chance at Vegas. Now I just went up to a SL5. This makes our core team consist 7,5,5,4,3 total= 24

Now this is the 3rd time I have went to a SL5 but it has only lasted a few weeks because I was really just a good 4 who had a lucky night. Now I feel I am a weak SL5 and with daily practice can be a good SL5.

Now APA would love to see me start a new team. I have a lot time and money invested in my current team and our chance at Vegas. So now I can just quit my daily practice and my play will drop off and I will drop to an SL4. I could take option #2 sandbag but its against my beliefs. At least now I can see first hand why people do it.

Now my choices are Sandbag or stop my growth in the game. This Sucks. I am willing to give up my current team but not until I get my chance at cities and Vegas.

Our 8 ball team is also our 9 ball team which we are not qualified in yet. In 9 ball we are 9,4,4,4,2= 23 if anyone goes up we will be in the same boat.

I might have went up this week. During my 8 ball play my captain got under my skin. This must have caused some extreme focus to go along with some good rolls because I won my 9 ball match in 9 innings 31-7 against a SL3 that needed 25.

So while APA is responsible for part of my growth in the game it is at the moment the block in the road.

You only have 5 people per team??? Our APA league has 8 member teams which gives you some flexibilty incase handicaps go up. 5 member teams make no sense in my opinion. My 9 ball team has 7,5,4,4,4,3,3,2 and 8 ball 7,6,5,4,4,4,3,3. This gives me lots of options and I don't have to worry if 1 or 2 people go up cuz we can still stay at 23 or under.

Yes we can have 8 but we have a big turn over do to soldiers being deployed. We had a couple leave during the last session and 2 the session before that were all deployed. The captain added his wife but she doesn't come most nights and could never win a game of 8 ball. There have been 2 others that were suppose to start but they haven't. Another part of the equation is if I am not going to play I want to know before that night. It cost me about $12 in gas to show up.

It's a tough spot to be in. I went to Vegas with a 5 person team, and I know how stressful that can be. If you can not sandbag and still go down just by halting development for a while, I would. Get the free trip, have fun in Vegas, and find a terrible new girl (gender specified for lowest starting and possible skill level) to give flexibility in fielding the team.
