Most of us come from places that aren't under the kind of pressure that the people of New Orleans and surronding area are under right now. I want to stop what iam doing to acknowledge this unfourtuante fate of nature.

Hope that it doesn't turn out as bad as they are making it out to be.

Good Luck

As bad as a Hurricane is they are predictable, and people have time to prepare for what is coming at them. Live through a Bad One in 50, or 52 as it did major damage in Miami

EarthQuakes on the other just happen. Remembering living in L.A. During the 71 Quake and being a Victim of it, and than working in Napa the Night the World Series Quake (Quake hit as the Giant & A’s) were starting the World Series. Again find myself in the middle of a Quake. Not a good thing.

Hurricane Katrina is going to be one BAD Hurricane, and I am sure many Americans will loose lives, property, and life works.

When the dust settles it will be interesting to see what Countries help Americans recover, as America seems to do a lot of HELPING of other when their Countries suffer natural disasters.

I posted this on CCB Friday...I pray for all of you in the path of Katrina, that bitch!!!

Well...South Florida was butchered last night by Hurricane Katrina. I was in the PH taking a very needed break when the weather dude said the storm had taken a turn south and was headed for Kendall <where I live>. Instead of running home I stayed cause the storm at the time was 55-60MPH winds and thats no big deal. By the time it made its presences know it was packing 100MPH winds and the party was on.

Watching the transformers BLOW up was a treat...the power going on and off at the PH a half a dozen times was fun too. We sat in the dark and did what PH people do, ragged on each other and had drinks!!! The whole time I was remenissing about Hurricane Andrew..13 years and two days ago so I dont think I was as much fun as I coulda been!!

We stayed at the room until about 1230 and we all decided to make a beak for it. I lived the closest so I was worried <first dumb mistake>. I made it to my street to find our that all the Ficus trees that lined my block have been blown over...I made a dash to the main road to figure out where to go and ended up parking under a gas station cover until the sun came out.

At 630 the first sign of light I tried again to get to my condo...dodging and weaving around the huge trees and finally made it home. There was no power when I got here but I woke up to the sweet sound of my A/C unit...whata night!!!

JoeyA....calling Joeya....come in Joey. Give us a report. (sumpin tells me he's one of the 1,000,000 plus that got on the road and evacuated. Smart man if he did)

BTW Voodoo, as you know my brother also lives around you. He said that the forcasts were off the mark in predicting the severity of this storm. There were a lot of trees down all over roads and flooding. He lost power on Thurs. afternoon and didn't get it back until late Sat. night. That was good news...they weren't expecting to have it back until tomorrow, Tuesday.

The winds were also stronger than predicted and did some heavy duty damage in his area. These things are nothing to take lightly.

My hometown (New Orleans) is about to get a hammering now. My close relatives have all evacuated. It doesn't look good for the Big Easy right now.....
