Hurricane Katrina

Shorty,

Have you heard anything about Hemicudas? I have been trying contact him via e-mail and telephone with no success. Any idea how hard Jackson, MS was hit?

Not a word Lunch, but I am betting he is fine. The main thing was people losing power in south Mississippi. Only those along the coast, south of I-10 were hit hard with flood damage and such. Mainly those north of there with bad damage was due to fallen trees. I am hearing weeks before power is restored, but then I hear rumors of power coming back to the Hattiesburg area rather quickly. I think power companies from Florida are coming up to help...also from other states as well. My mom is fine, and she says most roads are passable as long as you don't mind running over dead power lines.

I am sure Hemi is good though...maybe having to fan himself in that sweltering Mississippi heat though.

Thanks Shorty. Everytime I try and call him I get a message saying all circuits are busy. I bet you are right though, that he is okay - just sweating a little more than usual.

sjm,

Please don't take me the wrong way and believe me that I am not trying to "rate" both disasters, but what's going on in NOLA has got to be worse than what happened in NYC. I'm glad you found your brothers safe and whole. I hope you cherish that as long as you can for as long as you can.

But as for what happened to NOLA, the WHOLE CITY got wiped out. People absolutely have no where to go with just the clothes on their backs. It's such a tragedy.

I'm still in remberance of 9/11 and I always will be. I still cannot watch films of the WTC destructions. I still cannot live with the fact that your loved one's kiss in the morning to go to work could be your last kiss for life with them.

Barbara

I am going to take it the wrong way. Neither of these disasters is "worse" than the other. Especially for those that have family and friends who were involved.

Get a grip Barbara. SJM thank you for sharing your exerience and your voice of hope.

We at Sterling are hoping that our friends and customers are safe as well, we have been able to determine that one of our customers whose home and business is two miles from Lake Ponchatrain is safe but with no knowledge of the state of his property.

All we can do now is do what we can to help the recovery, just like we did after 911.

Peace to everyone, including you Barb.

John

Watching the news last night, I saw people are being raped. When I didn't think it could become more heartbreaking...
