In the mid 90's I worked in a small poolroom/arcade/go-kart track in Antioch, TN (suburb of Nashville). It had maybe 20 4x8 Goldcrowns, with bucket pockets and nap cloth. In those days Snookers was always packed with people on the weekends and they made a ton of bread.
Snookers was managed by a retired pool hustler named Ugly Dave. Now, Dave was of the Johnson City era. He was considered the best One Pocket player in Nashville, and ran with the likes of Marshall Carpenter (Squirrel), Eddie Taylor, etc, etc.
At night, after closing I used to get Dave to tell me stories about the road. Dave would light up his cigar, pour his customary Whiskey on the rocks and he would tell me some great stuff.
