Caveat Emptor.........
Let me offer you the best advice you may ever get on this site.....DONT BUY ANYTHING YOU CAN'T HOLD IN YOUR HANDS!!
RR makes a great point when you are dealing with someone you don't know.
However, I believe there are exceptions, even if you do not know the other party. If the other person is buying & selling cues as a business endeavor, there are some people on the Forum you can trust, or at least I would and I actually have and thousands of dollars were involved .......I was never worried......everything turned out perfect on the last few acquisitions.......in fact, I have never had a bad experience selling or buying a pool cue.
Nonetheless, the market has changed in many respects......dishonest cue-makers ripping clients off, more counterfeit cues, sellers overstating, or incorrectly describing, the cue for sale, increased reports of buyer complaints, etc. So RR is correct when he urges the reader to exercise caution. However, I bought my EP cue as a long distance purchase from Bill Grassley at Cornerstone Cues......never played the cue before I bought it....but I knew I could return it to Bill for a full refund if I didn't like the cue. And I knew that to be true since in the past I had already done that and gotten a 100% refund from Bill on a Richard Black cue I bought from him. Upon arrival, I was in love with the cue but after trying the cue, it wasn't to my liking.........called Bill, returned the cue and I was refunded 100%.
There are others on the Forum that are just as trustworthy.......Jamie, Mark, Joe VB, Sean, Martin, Cleiton, Brian, Dean, etc. and all of them are honest, customer-oriented and reliable....I've also done business with some of these other Azers and actually purchased pool cues, and even returned a cue for a refund. Just keep in mind these are individuals with sterling reputations and a documented history of being upstanding individuals. Heck, is it any different with ordering a custom cue.......I pay for the cue in full before it gets shipped........what happens if it never is shipped, or it's the wrong design, or weight, etc.......just as you need to be selective about the cue-maker you select, use the same common sense when buying a pool cue......JMO.
