"Chino-english". I used to rep some Japanese companies in the fibre optic industry. The manuals were hilarious. The guys at the head office in Japan called it "Japo-English".

I'm guessing that hard tooling must save them time, so they're able to pass their savings onto the customer. I think DC takes less of a cut than JB, too.
