I am heading to ATL- Mr. Cues II this Thurs

No worries- heading there anyway just to check it out. Wish I could carry a cue or two but that is okay.

Seriously tho gforces....There is usually a great turn out of players in Athens. It should be worth the trip. ;)

from Google ,,,

Start address: 3541 Chamblee Tucker Rd
Atlanta, GA 30341
End address: 1120 Mitchell Bridge Rd
Athens, GA 30606
Distance: 51.0 mi (about 1 hour 4 mins)
Perhaps part of the problem is the speed limit most of the way is 55 ! :D

Actually, RandMcnally.com has it at 58 mins. So, unless you catch EVERY red light on 316 and drive 5 mph under the speed limit, you should be able to shave off 14 to 18 mins...making it "about 40 mins".:p

Ahhhh, but that is part of Pop's game, the unannounced ass cup.

Yeah. But Pop's could kick the crap out of any jealous boyfriend/husband/lesbian husband.

Is Pops even kicking around? I haven't heard anything from him in a while. He use to stop by our store now and again but it's been a while. I think he has a bar on Baxter street now.

To the person about the 1pocket tournament.

Play starts at 8:30. You need to be there by atleast 8:20 or so to sign up. I think it varies between 15-20people. Some nights they do have more. If you happen to make it to the final three count on yourself being there until 3am. But that is extremely hard to do. Even with it handicapped.

And to the others. If you can make it to Brass Rails then go. I love that pool hall. I grew up playing there from about the time I was 16. Even when they made it 18 and up they would still let me in I went so much. I haven't been lately becuase I have grew a large distaste for Athens. It's a nice place but I hate the people there greatly (Not the pool hall though).

I talked to Pops about a week ago. I'm pretty sure he will make a guest appearance for the event.

Great to hear. My partner and I where speaking of old Pop's stories not to long ago. My buddy knew him real well because we would refelt all of Pops' tables every 6 months no matter what. Now that is love for the sport. 20some tables redone in Simonis every 6 months. I wish he never sold the place.

Nothing beat watching him throw some football star looking 18 year old out by himself. I just hope that kid learned a lesson about speaking dirty in front of the ladies.

Oh. The 40 minutes from Cues2 to Athens. Not anywhere between 3pm and 8pm. Traffic is screwed thanks to the 316 constuction. From my work I know many backways and can get around town fast. But taking I-85 to GA316. It'd take you 40 minutes to get from Cues2 to Pool Room 2 due to traffic.

But once you pass Lawrenceville you can generally go 80mph and not get pulled over. Any faster and the boys in blue will be on your ass.

Mike, Corey just called me out of the blue to say he was going to be in the area before his flight leaves Atlanta on Monday for the WPC. He didnt even know about the event in Athens, but I told him and I think he will be there for all of the festivities this weekend. He asked about Country Rock, so everybody get their dancing shoes ready!

I forgot all about Country Rock. I haven't been there since I was 17. Except I think it was called Bumpers then. It was more like Country Rap then. You had slow country songs followed by old school ghetto booty shaking rap.

If you are into drinking heavy then Downtown athens will have great deals on beer. I would go to Wild Wings and get $1 Pabst Blue Ribbon. Then a lot of times they have draft specials. Especially if there is a Georgia game going on in town.

Vette, I got the same call today. It looks like Corey Deuel will definately be there.

I also talked with Tony Watson and Shannon Daulton they are planning on being there to. Mj

Any AZers out there that play at Mr. Cues II? I am not carrying cues etc. I am going on business. Is there a tournament?

:) I would just like to say he is a really good guy and a very good player ! :) We played until we were both dragging (I am a bit older than him so it was good to see I could wear him down some !! ;)

A tip! ..... if you ever have the pleasure of shooting with or against him Do Not Leave him any BANK shots!! He just doesn't miss them!!! :D

Thanks for coming out to hit some balls- Phil is a good player- and has great taste in cues. I had to shoot a lot of banks because Phil would not let me see anything straight in! The room is fantastic- lots of good players. I stayed for a bit and watched some good play.

I'll be coming in Saturday night from Atlanta, so I'll be in costume unless I stop by the hotel first. I've got two beds if anyone is interested in sharing.

I might be up for sharing, but I cant promise I won't have another girl with me making funny noises later. :D

If there is a sock tied to the door knob when you get in, you may want to stay in the lobby....LOL

lol, since I will be in "blackout" mode, I can't really say what the "funny noises" will consist of. But you are right about one thing, it will definitely be a good show!

I thought it was a tie? Oh, that's right. We're talking about pool players here.
