I am sorry please read, concerning ACS in my area.

Man I wish that I could take back that first 3 min post I wrote in the thread entitled "Is the ACS Corrupt? Where is all the money? A Letter To Mr. Lewis" http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=29993

OK, I am now getting people coming up to me saying that I said that certain people stole money which I never said in my posts, read them. I was just questioning where certain money was or is going. Today I had a "talk" with the secretary of the league today. And that is the main reason for this post.

Now first I would like to say that I did in fact approach the original post wrongly and apologize for the name calling that was a grave mistake on my part, WC if you read this I am very sorry about that. I did and still don't have all the facts as to where money was spent or where it is. But I will say what I do know as fact later in this post.

I really want people to hear what is going on and lets see what you guys think. Ok here we go, this season is an extraordinarily long 19 weeks (we usually have 3 seasons a year.) There are 19 teams in the league which consists of 5 players on each team that play each week. We now pay $10 each player which I calculate at the end of this season the money made from dues will be a little less than $18050 because of a team or two dropping out during the season. Now with that said they are going to pay one team that wins an end of season tournament $3000 and pay teams based on how they finish during the season. Let’s say the total they are going to pay will be $7000. So that leaves $10000, where does that go? Everyone was told that the remainder of the money will be used to make up money that had been previously lost during the previous few seasons. Here is how they lost the money:

It is the standard here that you need 16 teams to support a bracket (pay based on team finishes during the season and the $3000 trip given.) The past few seasons there were not enough teams in each of our three brackets to support itself. But in spite of this they promised the teams in each bracket the regular payouts based on the place the team finished, and the $3000 trip given to the team that wins the end of season tournament. So for the last few seasons they promised a sum of money that they do not have. The amount is near $15000 that they owe to other teams for previous money won. During my "talk" with the league secretary she stated that after this season they will still be $4000 in debt. That is where I came up with the $15000. So to make up this money they are combining all the brackets into one and handicapping it. They also raised our dues this season to $10 a week instead of $8. This puts the top players/teams in the league against some of the weaker teams. So they knowingly kept putting the league into debt, I think that anyone can agree that that is a definite sign of things being poorly run. So the players are being punished this season, and next at least, to pay for money that was knowingly being lost. And I am not sure how you can go that far into debt over that amount of time and am waiting to see the numbers of how it got there. In my original post all that I said was that the payout for this season is not FAIR to what the players are putting in. I have heard a few rumors from people I completely trust about as to how the league money got so far behind but I wont mention one of them because I don't know them to have any truth to them at all. Something here seems fishy to me but then again show me the numbers and I will rid my thoughts of this fishiness hehe, is that even a word, fishiness haheho.

As to my statements about the league going under within a year or so and it being no fun let me say this. That is my opinion, and the opinion of many people in the league that I have spoken to personally. Some of which are on weaker teams who are not happy being beat 23/25 games which happened. I personally am not going to play in this league next season and know other people that are not as well. That’s why I think that the league will fold, all the teams will leave (well most of them but you get my point.)

Now money isn't the most important thing to me, but I am a college student with a job and that $10/week is hard earned every day at work. People are not stupid, thay are going to want to know what is going on especially when money is concerned.

My main point of this whole thing was that:

1. There is money problems in this league.
2. The league is not fun for me and others I know.
3. There has not yet been exact numbers which should easily be presented....presented to anyone.
4. The league, as a whole, is being poorly run.

I stand by my last 4 statements 100% and would like to see anyone convince me otherwise. I also was told by the secretary that my post was being printed in a National Magazine? I don't believe that is true.

Finally I would like to close by saying that my original post was out of line. I am glad that I was informed correctly about the state tournament and again apologize for my child like antics towards WC and KennB. I am truly sorry about my childish nature in the first post, but do stand by what I said after. My opinion is my opinion, the facts are the facts. I was just going to quietly go through the rest of this season and just not play the next. But apparently people are very angry, so angry as to raise their voices at me and demand an apology. So I hope that this puts some of the anger aside. I am a very laid back person and am trying to deal with this the best way I can.

Now with all that being said.....Would any of you continue to play in this league? Is it being poorly run? Should I just shut up? I completely respect this community and want to know what you think about my predicament.

Thanks for reading my ridiculously long post :D

Eric, you can delete your other posts. If you would like, you could delete the original post and then post a link to this thread. ;)

I think you've done the right thing. There are a lot of people that come on here and spew untruths (whether they know it at the time or not) and when it's discovered that it's not the truth, they either insist that it is or they just disappear & ignore it.

Kudos to you for stepping up and trying to find the truth & posting it. Good luck with the situation.

I don't get it. I read your four points and I say, "so what". You can say that about any business. And running a tour is a business.

I suggest you spend more time studying and keep away from pool.

In the league I am in we pay $10 dues each week also BUT we take 3 teams from each session to play in BCA Nationals. We take the first two teams and a wild card team...it is a pretty nice setup for all involved. The two top teams get to go and that gives the better teams a really good chance to either win or get second in the fall or spring session and still get a trip. Also it gives the weaker teams who may don't have a chance to win to go also.
