I hear a lot about Ronnie being moody, crazy and acting wild at tournaments but...

...i really have heard or seen no examples of this. Im a huge fan of Ronnie o Sullivan and if anyone could clue me in on some of his antics i would love to hear. What kind of stuff has he pulled at tournaments?

Self harm for one. Literally pulling his hair out and drawing blood by scratching his face. We watched him come apart at the seams against Ebdon, when Ebdon simply took 15 minutes (hyperbole) over each shot because he was getting slaughtered by Ronnie.

Picking at his tip so often and violently that he ripped it off his cue, and he had to borrow a cue while it was retipped. Gave his cue to a young boy in the audience without a word when making his way out after the defeat.

Shaving his head without warning ala Britney Spears - it's where she got the idea I think.

Body language and demeanour in many tournaments, whether winning handsomely or not.

Interview after interview - a very troubled man at times - nothing to do with his snooker.

Ronnie

There's a great book out by the title 'Ronnie' that details his life and problems with drugs and the depression he's fought for years. I believe he's now on prozac and in Narcotics Anonymus.

I strongly disagree with the previous post that Ronnie's various issues at tournaments have nothing to do with snooker. It has everything to do with snooker which you will learn if you read his autobiography :)

yeah ronnie's known to be a bit controversial!
theres a perfect example on youtube i'm sure you'll be able to find. i think it was after the china open or something, theres a bunch of asian reporters asking him questions through an interpreter. knowing they can't understand him, ronnie starts spouting some pretty rude (to put it politely!) remarks...however the TV camers were close enough to pick up what was being said...dear of dear.
that said, the guy's a pure genius

There are many people that are too judgemental of Ronnie's actions, especially those who don't understand what it's like to have depression which is something that has plagued Ronnie for a good number of years.

I have had the good fortune to meet Ronnie, when he came over to Northern Ireland for the 1st NI Cup event, he went to the pool room I play in, as he knows the guys who run the pool room, (Whom are also good friends of mine) and they called me and asked me to come over to the pool room as Ronnie wanting some coaching on his break shot in pool, as he had gotten his IPT spot back then.

I know that Ronnie goes through bouts depression only too well, The match in which he conceeded halfway through a match with Stephen Hendry a few years back, is the perfect example of this... how do I know he has depression?... because I go through quite heavy bouts of depression also and yes, I've been in a tournament and had a downer come over me and when that happens, the 1st thing I want is to just get away from the place and just completely give up on playing, the will and interest to pick up a cue stick just completely dies.

Depression is definitely a complete hell to go through and anyone who has it, they have my wholehearted sympathies, because it's not something that is easy to fight against by any means.

I don't know if this will help to give anymore insight for you good people, but I thought that it would be worth mentioning at least.

Yes, that's the depression making an appearence, when you're feeling depressed and playing a tournament, the interest to be there just plumits through the floor, they way he played those 2 shots was the perfect example of that, and he was looking down as he was walking out of the arena, which is another indication of a guy going through a downer.
