I just got this full splice custom blank made and there are a lot of gaps at the bottom point as well as a lot of glue. Is this acceptable. I'm worried this won't turn out. I had a prather blank that was perfect in the past.

I guess it depends on how much you paid whether it is acceptable.

If you paid $50 then I think it was a decent deal. If you paid $350 then I would say that it was awful because you could have gotten a Davis for that price.

You didn't say how much oversize it is.
You have to cute it to size to know. Get to work!

So your saying that if it is turned down to size those gaps and glue could disappear? I had prather blank that was perfect when I got it.

No, I'd send it back.

Once you cut it, you own it. Not worth the risk. I've seen better stock blanks for cheap money than that.

I think that this is a davis blank, in my experience, not all of the imperfections will turn out.

Maybe ask Martin, jazznpool. He has a lot of experience with blanks.

I don't like the looks of it myself.

Just contact the seller and let them know. Maybe they'll say go ahead and turn it down and if it's not right after that, they will replace it. ????

If these pictures show your cue at finished dimensions then, yes, you probably took one up the old wazzoo. If not, then those imperfections may disappear as the cue is turned to size. Good luck. :)
