I am a newbie, but here's my two cents:
not until a short time ago I had the same problem, especially when I was trying to power draw. I either missed the shot completely or tensed up at the last moment and miscued or jumped the ball. I "tried" hard to draw and couldn't.
Then I changed my approach. I quit "trying" to power-hit the show, started approaching it like any other shot and just changed the length of my stroke(back swing) and started shooting power shots with the same force.
Wow! I couldn't believe it - now I am able to make those powerful shots.
Maybe it will help.
