I love beautiful cues...but...

I disagree with you.

You can't have box and put good guitar strings and expect the guitar player to play well.

Just like you cannot have a world class chef put mustard on a shit sandwich and expect it to taste better.

Yes, a good shooter can hit his target with a water gun but he is not going to kill what he is aiming for.

Cues play a big part in how you play but only from a certain price range. As you get higher in the price range the difference is miniscule unless we're regarding looks, as I mentioned earlier.

I have taken a wooden box, a 2x4 and a few nails....strung it up with 4 guitar strings, and made some very nice slide music using a cut piece of copper pipe....

I have to disagree with you.......

I am sure if you look around everyone's house. You will see several examples of higher end items that were available much cheaper. They all do the same thing right. Whether it's their washer, dryer, stove or refrigerator. So why did those people spend more on those items but knock cues. I have a feeling some people either don't shoot very well or don't know what a better cue can do for their game.

You've had every kind of answer you could be looking for to your question from a lot of experts on the subject. It seems now your just looking to argue

Not on the road and not in the pool hall. Your goal is never just to get from point a to point b.

Are you trying to get there Fast or comfortable? Are you trying to save money on gas or pick up a hot chick? Are you on your way to Sturgis or to the local super market???

A Yamaha R1 with a turbo will get you there faster. A Harley softtail with a pipe will get you there in style. A 1978 honda 80cc scooter MIGHT get you there, but it ain't gonna be a fun ride...

It's the same with pool. Are you a feel player or a deliberate player? Do you use BHE or prefer LD???

Instead of attempting to berate people for giving sound advice to new players on cues to buy, maybe you should learn some more about the game???

:grin-square:Jaden:grin-square:

I have been playing for 30 years.. I assure you I have great knowledge of the game. maybe thats why I KNOW for a fact that a cue is only a tool and a good player can use ANY tool to win his game.

But I digress....Some people think a harley makes them a better rider....I just laugh when I hear they dropped a 20K bike and screwed ip up due to over confidence in a subjective idea.....

Same with cues... I laugh every time I see someone with an 80 dollar cuetech spank someones ass and leave them holding there 2500 samsara in their hands while they walk away from the table...

I wasn't looking for answers as I did not ask a question. I made a statement, and I still hold steadfast to that statement as I have for 30 years.

I guess the players 200 years ago were just lucky running 150 in straight pool. I mean, considering they didnt have access to predator shafts, southwest cues, kamui tips, simonis cloth, etc.....

TRUE players can play with anything....as long as the tips plays well.......And even IF the tips are crap.....some players can still run racks like its cake.....

Dude you can't even compare ..go play on those old tables with there big ass pockets and slow cloth completely different game then what were playing on now with lightning fast cloth and deep pockets that spit balls out if you don't hit them all but perfect.

I put this right up there with the svb shoots with a cuetec so they must be good! Shane has more talent and drive for pool then this whole damn forum. lol I'm sure he could pick up a house cue and still beat most of us. I bet usain bolt could put clogs on and still beat every one here in a foot race but for the rest of us normal people ya probably still want to wear a nice pair of running shoes.

A house cue isn't made for playability. It's made for drunk assholes to beat around. It's solid maple with no flex in the shaft at all. The weight is at the bottom..no balance and it has a hard tip on that will last forever, never need shaped but will require you to the ball a lot harder to try to get the same spin that a custom cue will give you effortlessly. So yeah the best players in the world can adjust to the difference and because they have a pro quality stroke they can hit harder and still be accurate and play at a high level but for the rest of us mere mortals your better off getting a cue with the taper, length , weight and tip that best suit your game. You don't need to spend 20 grand on a zamboti but I would suggest spending more then $20 on a walmart special.
