The only comparison I can give to a pool table is when I also was playing softball.
I lived across the street from a field. I would go out at night to take batting practice and would turn on the lights.
There I was all alone on the field taking batting practice and it was like Field of Dreams. Every hit off the pitching machine was an out unless it went over the fence and I wasn't happy unless I hit 10/10 over the fence. I never did get that number (7/10 was my best most of the time), but it sends chills up my spine thinking about it.
