*** I Need A Little Help With A Sugartree Cue Repair ***

I had a chance to buy one of his first 'for sale' cues but my friend wouldnt let me. Thanks Rog! How in the hell can you possibly justify holding a cue for 2 years for a minor repair? Some people may only have a few years more to live for crying out loud.

This is all very helpful, and I still have not decided yet. I can have the buttcap and the joint sleeve changed, have it resprayed, and have an uncapped ivory ferrule applied for $275 by someone I trust. And it will all be done in three weeks.

I love this cue, and the hit is amazing. It is a great cue to take out and shoot with, and does not attract near the attention that my Boar does. So, I will wait a while longer to hear back from Eric and see what he has to say, and then decide. But, like I stated above, I simply cannot justify sending my cue in for a repair and not having it for such an extended amount of time.

Hi All,

I am in a slight quandry. I recently picked up a very nice Sugartree fancy sneaky. The very first night I took it out, I (stupidly) let a friend use it for a few racks. He dogged the 5 in a ring game and slammed the cue down on the bumper. Needless to say, he cracked the buckhorn buttcap in two places, and also cracked the finish.

After I pointed this out to him, he felt absolutely terrible, and has agreed to pay for all repairs. I have sent two e-mails to Eric inquiring about repairing the cue, but have received no response. I am in no way complaining. I know that Eric is extremely busy, and I am sure a repair like this is in no way a priority, which I completely understand. The problem is, I am not sure what else I can do. I can have it fixed locally, but that would mean an ivory buttcap, and then the buckhorn joint sleeve would also have to be replaced with ivory. And Eric's signature is in the buttcap of this cue, of course. So, I am sure you all see my problem. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you AZers!!!

IIRC, Mr. Crisp recently posted that he was having some family issues and that was what caused the cue making/repairing to slow down. Maybe those same things are still going on. Hopefully, he will post an update and enlighten his present and future customers. Surely he will, as that would be the fair thing to do, IMO.

Thank you for that post, Mr. Edwards. I greatly appreciate the information.

As I have already stated, I can completely understand Eric being too busy to perform this small repair, and I begrudge him nothing if he is unable to do it in a timely manner. I simply want to know before I decide to either ship it to him, or have it done locally.

And I truly hope that if he is having family issues, they are of the holiday type, and not of the crisis type. It is the season for family, which is, of course, priority number one.
