I need a tap for this thread

Anyone know where to get a tap for the Radial look alike that is used in the 5280 cues? Here is a picture of it.

This thread is showing up in quite a few cues and I have been asked to make shafts to fit it on numerous occasions. Normally for odd threads I would just thread it on the lathe, but with the radial type thread profile I am not sure how well that will work. It is a finer thread than an actual radial pin. I think it measures out at 8tpi.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yeh, that thread is a killer and I'd like to have a tap myself but I don't know of anyone making them yet. I don't get enough orders for them yet to justify having a tap custom made which usually runs a couple of hundred bucks.

Re: Special Taps

Try National Tool Grinding (Barb@national-tool.com). They have made all kinds of taps and dies for me over the years. A sample probably would help them.

I just ordered a tap from Schmelke for the 3/8x8 radial look alike. I am hoping that the McDermot, 5280, and the Omega screw is the 8TPI screw like they sell at Schmelke. I will let everyone know if it fits just as soon as I get it in. I have a couple of people wanting shafts for cues with what I believe to be this pin.
