I wouls like some genuine help please. I would like any cue maker in here to help me with some instructions on putting on leather wraps. I just can not afford to send my cue to a cuemaker in the United States to have it done. I have access to a lathe and would like some help on how to perform this procedure.

Typically not done on a lathe, most cuemakers now use a fixture like this one. This if for cutting the seam, and the leather is cut on each side of the leather. Also they use a template to cue the radius on the leather for the ends of the leather. You can cut the leather straight, but will fight getting the ends perfect. Also some cuemakers will cut the seam overlapping the leather, and you can try this with some type of jig for cutting the leather with sharp razor blade. Use Contact cement called welwood, bought at home stores. Good Luck, and in the long run, sending the cue to someone will probably save you money, unless you want to do others. Good Luck

Thank you for the reply

Thank you for replying to me. How would you go about removing the Irish linen wrap. After it is removed, you then clean of any glue and prepare surface for sticking on the wrap. Let me know the procedure.

Irish Linen is put on like string, you can make a cut at the beginning of the wrap and unwind it. The glue sometimes will clean up with water, if not you have to do some sanding.

Do I have to buy a machine like the one in the link you gave me or can I make my own jig to cut the leather. Also what about the thickness of the leather, does it vary. I am just wondering if it is possible because that machine is cost $400.00.

I think I am just going to invest in the unique produts jig. Billiard bum will you help me if I have any questions.
