J&D CUSTOMS

I am looking for a complete bed for a 1978 F-150 that has been in our family for 26 years. My father has passed it down to me and I am restoring it.
I need the complete bed, tail gate, bed sides, floor, basically looking for a nice old bed that I can strip down and repaint. Nothing rusted all up, nicer the better.
If any of you old truck buffs can help me out here's the deal!

I will build you a very nice, custom cue in trade. You get to design it, I will build it! No solid Ivory cues, but something super nice equal and probable better to the value of a nice bed so I can restore my dad's ole truck.
Pics to my email will be very helpful and it must be able to be delivered if out side a 100 mile radius of Milan, Indiana 47031 as I just do not have the time to take a road trip right now.

So, who has a nice , restorable bed for me for a 1978 F-150 ( Long Bed) Yes, it is a 4X4...
And even better, an entire ole nice body and all for parts I may need!

Here is a pic of the ole thing as I received it. Wanting to get the ole work bed off and a factory bed back on!

I have a 89 F150 that is in pretty good shape. It has the long box but you would know better than I would if the years are compatable. I would be willing to work somthing out if it will work. Let me know.

Would like to, but the years that are capatable to mine are 1975 to 1979 only. But thanx for the offer, it is still appreciated!
Take care,
Jim Lee

Who would like to design a custom cue and see it come to life? Your design, inlays, color scheme , wood chioces, you name it!
All I need is a lil help makin my dream come back to life as well.

My uncle had a 78 but I thought it said it was a 100 not 150 its long gone as he is also. Good luck

Let me check

Let me check with a guy back home.... If I remeber correct there is a good box along with some body panels sitting in a storage unit.

That would be great, door would be a plus, have a lill rust at the bottoms, and a nice bench seat would be awesome also! Please let me know when you check back home and your findings !
Thanx again,
Jim Lee

To bad we're 475 miles apart, I have a '74 F100 that I'm going to sell or part out. And yes a 1974 parts will work, '73 to '79 have the same body style, only thing that different is the grills. Best of luck finding what you need tho.

Memories

My first new truck.
I still have this truck and i would love to restore it.
78 f-150 351, automatic, lockout hubs, 411 gears.

Sweet picture. Looks like a '79 with the rectangular headlights. '78 had round headlights. Good stuff with the mud flyin'.

Jim I have a line on a 69 or 70 1/2 ton 2wd. Its a clean pickup for its age. New 390 motor but it will not hold oil pressure. I can find out more info if you want me too.

The FE engines are a unique engine, by the book when checking oil pressure, rev engine to 2000 rpm's. At idle oil pressure is zero or very near, this will be on a fresh rebuild (30-35 psi), older engines show a lower pressure, but that doesn't mean oil isn't flowing, the passage's are so large that it's near impossible to have oil pressure below 2000 rpm when at operating temp.

I figured I'd post pics on here instead of emailing them to you as the file size is very large. It has a 390 I rebuilt about 3 year ago(bored 0.030) torquer cam, headers into dual exhaust with flowmaster 40 series C-6 was rebuilt 6 year ago, 9" rear end-3.50 gears with a locker posi I rebuilt entire rearend about about 2 months ago, the body is in need of repair as you can seen in the pics but nothing major that patch panels can't be used for. Dash pad has seen its better days, I have another complete dash with a good pad as I had plans of adding AC later, also have the compressor/brackets and wiring harness for the AC. I used this as a tow truck and pulled cars and trucks, up to a F350.
The hood is the result of an engine fire from a bad cam, luckily I had a fire extinguisher with me of it would have burnt to the ground.
The lights on the front bumper don't come with it, I'm going to need those for my newish truck.
The bad news is the gas, I guesstimate any where between 350-450 depending on prices from here to there. I'm figuring on no less the 6-8 miles a gallon towing it up there as there are alot of mountains to go through.

I would just put a small block chevy engine in it and never look back.;) My dad had a shop for many years and I have to say the ford motor co. would keep the family fed and bills pay. :rotflmao1:
