So about a month ago I purchased a bulletproof recoil (red medium) tip, but I've been hesitant to put it on my playing cue, because I wanted to make sure it wasn't just a gimmick, and that people are actually using them, and it's getting reviews (good or bad)?

As you can see I haven't opened it yet.

The YouTube videos I've seen are all (for the most part) positive, which is fine, but I also use this website primarily, because I view the information that is posted and shared here, by the members, as valid (and for the most part) unbiased and creditable. So what's the feedback and reviews on this tip, and if there are already threads reviewing it, can you direct me to them?

Tough to test one while its in that bag.
The reason it's still in the bag is because, I only have one person/place that services cues in my area, and because there is only one place, and it's just one guy, when you drop your cue off to be serviced, it's usually a couple of days (or longer) before he can get to it, plus his shop is about 50 miles from where I live? So it's not as convenient to drive 50 miles, leave my cue, drive 50 miles home, wait 3 or more days, drive 50 miles to pick it up, get it home and after playing APA league matches and find out I don't like, then repeat the whole process again? So I just wanted some feedback before I pulled the trigger on this tip, that's all.

I've had mine (med red) on a Revo shaft (12.4) for a couple of months now and I'm keeping it. It holds chalk like no other tip. It draws like any other medium tip. It never loses shape. You have to use a pick to scuff the surface. A regular scuffer doesn't work as well. The only drawback (not for me) is that you might have to get used to the sound. It only makes that "break tip" sound on soft shots. The harder the hit, the less the sound.

I put mine on a spare shaft just to try it out and they're not bad at all. Response and hit is just a little different, and I'm not really sure how to describe it. My experience with it tells me I could get used to a synthetic tip and use one long term If I wanted to. I would say give it a run and make sure you break it in a bit before you make any determinations. Mine took quite a few hits to kind of "come around."

This is exactly what I wanted to hear. Thanks everyone for your feedback, and I'm gonna go ahead and put the tip on my cue. As a matter of fact, there are players on my team, as well as in my APA league, that are curious about it, so once I re-tip my cue, I'll let them all try it out as well, which should help speed up the breaking-in process.

Thanks again everyone, your feedback is much appreciated,
Ed

When I first started messing with my own tips I bought a junk house cue from the pool hall for $20 to practice on. Might be worth asking.

There are several threads about these tips. Just hit the search tab

Make sure to tell whoever puts it on to do 1 pass with a sharp blade when flushing it up with the ferrule. The videos show the process well. They shine with a perfect finish off a new sharp blade.

You can literally put these tips on in 20 minutes or less. Call him and make an appointment when he has time. Explain to him that it's a 50 minute drive, you can bring it when it fits his schedule. I understand being busy but expecting someone to drop off a cue for a 20 minute job is silly. Just see if there's a good day for him where he could do it when you bring it.

ive never seen anything worthwhile that had indestructible, bullet proof, last forever, etc, in their name be any good and stay on the market for too long.

when you identify your product with an outlandish claim you are saying it all right there.

Try one, report back

no need to. so many are already tried and true. and i don't ever fall for any graphical advertising.
however, time will tell and if they do prove superior, then i am open to using one if i feel it will be of benefit to me.
until then someone else can be the guinea pig for them.

I think they named it that because they have a lifetime guarantee.
I'm not trading in my triangles any time soon but they seem to be fine tips.
