Like Freddy said, impossible to please them all.
If you have stone beginners that don’t know about pool and you adjust your commentary to suit them (these days we might get the ball color confused) it gets repetitive fast.
If it’s too technical then the commentary is meaningless for the majority of the audience. As they don’t know pool jargon or what’s really going on.
Finding that balance is hard to do. And not piss off someone. Or everyone lol.
However 1P commentary is a different story. You have to figure anyone watching can play pool and knows the 4 ball is purple-we’ll it is sometimes now……

. Seriously good 1P commentary can always be technical. What’s bad is a half assed 1P player guessing what ball is best, endless guessing about bad ideas etc.
Josh Roberts is better at commentary then pool and he’s among the best players period. He’s amazing, needs to look into a career in that field he’s so good. And for 1P he of course get it right. His delivery, voice are spot on. Stone cold pro. And with his 1P knowledge wow it’s good.
It’s a hard sport to commentate, which hasn’t helped pool much either. Snooker is a easier game for a wider audience to understand and it’s had more wide market appeal. Not a accident. Red, color equals a score. That alone makes it watchable with or without commentary.
