Can you think back on a cue you wished you would have bought and kick yourself for it now?

In 1977 I could have bought, from Bill Stroud himself, his top-of-the-line ebony cue with the ivory windows all over and ivory joint and butt, for $400.
I also sold a Gus Szamboti for my brother-in-law for $800, shorty before Gus died.
I bought a Scruggs in 93 for $1600 and traded it for a 94 Southwest and was offered to buy the cue back for $500 and felt I didnt need another high dollar cue. A few months later my Southwest gets stolen and really kicked myself. Had a chance to buy a $4000 ish Jim Buss for a grand in 91-92 but again had a bunch of lesser dollar cues and felt I didnt need it and passed. Those deals do come around more often than you think if you are in the right place at the right time.
had an oportunity to buy an 05 jacoby limited for a friend for $400. It was a #5 of 6 built and played LIGHTS OUT!!!!!! This cue ended up getting pawned and I have no clue what ever happened to it.... I really regret not buying that cue then spending 250 on a lucasi LMAO...

Gus Szamboti maple with veneered ebony points. Ebony butt sleeve. It hit like a dream and came with 5 good shafts. $550 in the year 1986. I passed because the finish was a little yellowed. Just shoot me now.

Back around 1990, a friend of mine knew Barry Szamboti and he took me to his shop. Barry was a great guy. He showed us all the equipment he used and all of the inserts, etc. That was really cool. Well, I was a broke junior in college, but I could have ordered a basic cue from him for about $800, I think. I can't quite remember, but it wasn't untouchable. He told me that it would take 3 years. That would have been great, because I would have been out of school and working with money to burn. I should have ordered the damn cue.
We also got to see Gus' last (unfinished) cue that was later featured in the Billiard Encyclopedia.
I remember Barry was talking about meeting or hearing about a young kid from Hawaii that came through and was beating everyone. I think he was 17 or so....I think we all know who that was. Of course, he played with a Szambotti cue for a long time.

Back in 94 -95ish. I was in hall of fame billiards in brooklyn and Jean Balukas takes out her kersenbrock he made for her. My friend was really good friends with her and asked her if she would sell it. I bought it for 600 dollars with a case and a letter from Jean. I played with it every day for a year and couldn't get use to the yellow mircata ferrules but I knew I had to keep it because it hit perfect or so I thought.
One night I'm in a poolroon in NJ (Castle) and a guy says he will give me 800 and a cue (worth about 400) for the stick and I let it go. I have seen this stick on a display table at the us open in excess of 7k. I wish I still had that stick it played perfect -I would have never made such a dumb decision now.

Several R series Schons with the sharp points... All for less than $500... A scruggs SP for $275... It just needed to be refinished... A friend of mine bought a Tascarella for $200 recently... Obviously the seller had no idea what he had... It seems like my friend, on the other hand, has deal like that fall in his lap all the time...
I passed on a Joss West with points and fancy inlays for $75.00 in the 80's

I found out later a friend of mine traded an old set of golf clubs for it, flipped it for around $400.00 and today who knows whats its worth.
Another stupid thing I did back in the day was that intended to order a Franklin Southwest when they weren't all that expensive yet and I let a friend talk me out of it, he convinced me they weren't all that great, not sure why I listened to that bonehead.

Oh yeah, another thing I wished I had done was to stock up on Meucci Originals, Cornhusker billiards had them in the mid 80's for $89.00, it was my first decent cue, they bring fairly good money on ebay now.
