I want to add a Cue to my few

Currently I have the start of a very small cue collection but can not decide on what to buy next?

My dilemma is weather to shell out big bucks (over $1,000.00) for one cue, or purchase (2) for about the $1,000.00?

Or maybe hold out until I can save $2,000.00-$2,500.00 for something nicer. But I still want to play pool with my cues.

Any suggestions?

Hey,

Ok, if I get this right the budget is $1K now and what to do? Since, I don't feel like sleeping, this post will be fun! :)

If you want to experiment with different cuemakers go with the 2 at $500.

However, I recommend doing your research then going with one 1 cue at a $1K. At that level, you will most likely get a nice cue, and it will likely have some investment potential and a higher resale value.

Try and stick to big names as they will often hold their value. Here are some recommendations from seeing a bunch of cues the Buy/Sell area recently (no offense to cuebuilders on the board, but these are the cues I am bit more familiar with):

2 Cues at $1K (assuming used in good condition basic plain janes or simple pointers)

A simple Jensen and...

-Carolina Cues
-basic Nitti (great one being sold by Bamacues right now)
-Diveney (nice one on he board)
-Josey
-Martinez
-Olney
-Madden (hear good things, never played with one)
-Stacey
-Varney (quite a following on the board)

Here are some ebay examples. Too bad we can sort by price on our board....

1 Cue at $1K (there have some crazy deals on ebay recently in the $1K range!)

-Sugartree (just had some great cues today for sale)
-Bluegrass
-fancy Nitti
-Scruggs (little hard in the $1K range...save up for $1.5K here)
-Rauenzahn
-Gilbert
-maybe get lucky with a Mottey (same budget as Scruggs)
-PFD
-and of course...my boy...a mid-end Jensen Cue. (resale value has been getting better of late)

Some examples of some good deals...

Check out the "pool is as good as money in the bank" thread. Basically, don't but a "cheap" cue as an investment.

If you want to buy playing cue, there are lots of choices in your price range. But, IMO, if you're going to do it, do it right and get a nice cue from one of the top cuemakers.
