I was just thinking of Alex at TAR

Alex came to Canada when he was 15....he'd already been in more action
than some 30 year-olds.
He likes to tell the story of playing in the Philippines where half the table
was on the side walk....when you shot off the outside end rail you had
to get a friend to watch for cars coming.

So, no matter how tough this table plays, it'll be like playing in heaven
compared to some tables he's competed on.

He saw a lot of hard things growing up and still managed to retain a
naturally sunny disposition.

..gotta a feeling that no matter what the outcome, he'll probably have
more fun than anybody else there.

Spot on!

You are dead on here! Alex is my favorite player and I think he is a special person in pool. I hope he takes home the gravy. He has more personality then most all professional players combined. Good Luck Alex!!

1-1...and they're playing snooker safeties

gonna be a long match

And you actually BELIEVE that bullshit story?
What happens when it rains? How does the place close up?? Whats to keep someone from stealing this "table"???
What a crock. Sounds like Alex was just drunk again and babbling.
I say PROVE IT!

Yeah stuff like that dont exist in 3rd world countries

Not sure how I can prove it to your satisfaction without flying there.
..but you could Google outdoor pool tables...lotta suppliers in Asia....
..and people have posted on AZ about them.
I take it you're not an Alex fan...you probably would be if you met him.

8-7 Shane....they're running some racks now

10 all
Alex won a safety battle.

..if it goes all the way, Shane gonna make a 100 more balls on the break...
..best break I've ever seen

ALEX, the LION

I have had the pleasure of observing Alex in action, here in Canada, playing the toughest Canadian opponents. Snooker, 9 ball, 10 ball. Doesn't matter.

He has the true "eye of the tiger", calmly stalking his prey, then finishing them.

His battle with SVB will be a GREAT! one.

Good luck to both!!!!!

May the toughest opponent WINNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!

14-11 Alex
Commentating is great....the Viffer dropped in to talk with Jay and Billy

I'we seen pictures of 4 nine footers on the street... colour of cloth was unrecognizable...
Picture was taken from Philippines.

If you spent any time in the Philippines or China you'd see things like this all the time.

Sometimes I stop and watch guys playing on tables that are more like golf courses with the rolls clearly visible from ten feet away. And some of these guys are able to run four or five balls on these tables consistently. Put them on a good table and within a short time they would be playing pretty sporty.

When you play in conditions like this FOR MONEY you learn to fade a lot and figure out what to do in the face of adversity.

What's funny is how they are talking about how negative Shane looks and how bad he is playing compared to Alex and STILL they are only five games apart.

Edit: Although Shane did just dog an 8 ball to give Alex a game. Those mistakes are going to add up.

I also made the decision to just watch it full screen and not have the chat going. Much more enjoyable for me to focus on the match and not be distracted by the chat.

Just because you're ignorant doesn't mean it's a bullshit story.

When it rains, obviously they stop playing, cover the table with a waterproof tarpaulin until it's bright and sunny again.

Those places close up by...again covering the table up with waterproof tarpaulin with a draw-string bottom that can be locked from under the table..

Stealing a 9' foot table? First, you gotta go through 5 drunk guys sitting by the convenience store beside the joint and the starving dog tied under the table. Then you need minimum of 3 hours to dismantle it before the owner wakes up and pulls the trigger on you.

Shane working on a three pack. Made three balls on the break. Score 22:19 for Alex - Shane at the table running out.

Jay predicted Alex finishing the day with Alex up more than ten games. Billy says this reconfirms that the possibility of stringing racks is possible.

Sometimes Billy cracks me up.

Oh geeze: Shane runs out the rack and then dogs the ten!
