In Columbia South Carolina. Nine ball. Double elimination . Winner side race to five losing side race to three. $20 to enter. I ended up winning $250 for first place and this guy purchased me in the Calcutta that was $200 and he gave me 80 of that so I walked out $330 to the good💪🎱🎱🎱

We all can have many disagreements on AZ...but playing pool is why we joined.

BTW...you are not $300 to the good....
...your entry fee was $20
...your bar tab was $150....you bought a round for the house, remember?
...and those three hookers were not cheap

:D

Congratulations! Was this at Grady'S ? When I used to live in Columbia are used to play there

No it was not a Grady's but I do play there sometimes it was at a spot called Racks.

@Pt109 Those damn hookers it's like they can smell when a guy has money LOL

Good job!

Is it commonplace the calcutta winner gives a portion to the pool player?

I could see $20 of $200, but no way $80.

How much did he buy you for?

Lol, and do not forget about the $30 that he had to pay for quarters.

I think that 25% is common, if they are feeling generous (so $50 out of the $200 win is a nice thing to do, if the winner did not buy half of himself back).

Did the pool hall (or bar) add money to the pot? Is this a weekly tournament? They get good turn outs? Any other weekly tournaments in Columbia (within the city limits, so Grady's does not count)? Just curious, because that is an area that I might like to relocate to. Thanks.

Every other Friday night. Grady holds tournaments from time to time. Columbia has a pretty good APA league and Grady has a house league. There is also tap in the area
