Hello all, I picked this odd cue up recently. I think it might be an Abe Rich, and it looks like an extra Tad shaft! Any thoughts?

Bill Stroud uses that type of ring work too. That shaft could be from a Joss/Joss West cue. I don't have a clue on the butt, but obviously the brass joint indicates it's age.Good luck.

I have seen the Joss west cues with that ring work too. It does have an ivory ferrule, which I doubt ving would use. A friend of mine had several Tad cues, so I will compare the tapers soon.

Also, the butt isn't a perfect straight taper. It starts at about 1.20 at the butt, the end of the wrap is at 1.15, then the forearm tapers significantly down to .850.

Thanks for all the comments so far.

I thought TAD used a 3/8x12? That shaft screams Joss, to me.

Most TADs are 5/16 - 18 pins, but not all. The TADs I've owned are all 5/16 -18, that's my preference. The ferrule appears to possibly be ivory, not that means too much. The ring work is common to many different builders.
