OK, When someone says this cue weighs 19.5oz, thats with the shaft attached correct?

The weight of the cue includes the shaft?

Correct!

edit: I typed in "Correct!" and got a message that the message was too short.. Okay, this message is now longer!!! :)

Mine seems to be within almost .2 ounces. On mine, if a cue reads 19.2, it could be 19.0 to 19.4, or thereabouts. I presume it all depends on each individual postal scale.

Are small Postal office type scales accurate enough to weigh a Cue?

I have a small electronic scale that is accurate to within a gram. It is a Pelouze PE5 that cost me $69.00 Canadian. Thats about $10.00 US. The back of the scale says its made in Bridgeview Il. so it should be available. Its probably about 7 or 8 years old.

You mean $100 US?

I was just joking. The Canadian dollar has been consistently lower in value than the US for about the last 30 years. I would guess the scale would be $60 or $70 US.

Yes, and the rule of thumb is shafts weigh in the neighborhood of 4 ounces, so most butts are 14 to 16 ounces. If the handle of a cue weighed 19.5 ounces, then the cue would be in the 23 to 25 ounce range. There are some cues that really weigh that much, if you can believe it.

I have the same scale and it's very accurate. The sell them here under both the Pelouze name and "Sunbeam" brand. They sell for about $35 at the various office stores.

I bought two of the pelouze at a Big Lots store about 10 years ago for 5.00 each. They will weigh up to 5 pounds in either incraments of 1/10 of an ounce or 2 grams. They run off of either 110 with a smallconverter or a 9v. battery. They also tell the postage for whatever is being weighed and I believe that is the reason they were at Big Lots because the price of postage had went up around then and a new chip would have had to be installed for them to calculate correctly. I stepped on one and since it's only good for 5 lbs. and I weighed about 250 that one was no longer very accurite but the other one has lasted these 10 years or so.
