If I was KT...

My point was it is very unlikely the fee is going to be lowered based on the interest to date. If they had a qualifier and only 10 people showed up then they would have to start to reconsider. As it stands now there are enough people willing to pay the entrance fee, and it is generating a lot of excitement, so it seems successful and when something is successful then KT is not going to change it.

The way a lot of players can get around paying the $2000 themselves is by winning their way in through a small entry fee tournament that pays for their spot. Here in L.A. they could hold these type of tournaments at a number of different poolhalls and could generate enough money to pay for a lot of entries. If I decide to give it a go I would try to do it through one of the lower entry tournaments.

Another option would be to match up with someone and win the entry fee that way. If you are going to be on this side of the world anytime soon I may give you this opportunity.

I agree its a success, from a fans perspective, as Colin has already pointed out the IPT could possibly bring in more money by lowering the fee as more players may enter resulting in an overall gain. My impression is the venues that showed an interest in holding qualifiers, reclothing the tables etc and the limited time available to the IPT have placed restrictions on the format. I still see no reason why at the end of the year or for the two open events a venue can't be found that can accomodate a larger field with more spots availble and hopefully a lower fee. However my feeling is if there was 1 single event with more spots the fee would probably be acceptable by many.

I am not holding my breath or "waiting" for the fee to be lowered.

Jake there are many things that are "facts of like", the USA and Europe probably waste enough food everyday to feed half of Africa, it's probably never going to change but it doesn't stop people campaigning for change. I got two parking tickets this week, I didn't want to pay but at the end of the day I didn't have a choice if I want to drive my car!

PS
Wayne I didn;t think you would be paying the 2k yourself, however I will probably be going on a RTW trip at the end of the year as I'm working and not playing much at the moment. Depending on the format and fee I will play in the end of year IPT qualifiers after a few months limbering up (and playing a bit of pool haha! :D ) in the phillipines. If we meet after that I would be happy to play you, I'm just a part timer though so you'll prob rob me

And with that statement you epitomize exactly what is wrong with pool. Pool players do not want to perform for an audiance, all they want to do is gamble.

And don't use the standard comeback that there is no money in pool and players have to gamble. That was before KT and the IPT.

And, if you all get your wish and KT does quit the game, take his money, jump on his 40 mil plane and fly over to his 80 mil ship and go on a world cruise then you can all rejoice in being back to where you were. Nowhere.

Don't you people realize that if the IPT thrives then tours like Mike Zuglan's and John DiToro's will thrive because they will be the training grounds for the upcoming players to the IPT. Where the players can hone their skills. And who knows, KT might even sponsor them. Maybe even put the TD's on his payroll.

Jake do you not read any posts? I couldn't be more of the opposite than what you just said. The fact is wayne offered to play me for whatever reason, this tends to be the outcome of various threads on this forum when people dont agree, to be honest I think its a bit silly but then atleast wayne offered to play me himself and not "his friend" which normally happens.

No disrespect to Wayne as I dont know much about his game but I usually only prefer to play famous or world class players. a) because I play better normally and b) because I consider it excellent practice and a price worth paying to improve my game, even though the odds are I may lose.

I don't play pool for money I've told you this a million times before, in fact it was impossible for anyone apart from a handful to play pool for money before!

You will have to do better than that line regarding getting robbed. If you hadn't posted all of your results around the world then I might be fooled. I concede you are a better 9 ball player than me since I rarely play the game. One-pocket is my game. So if we meet it will have to be a combination of the 2 games for the cheese.

That line is just plain wrong. You may believe this and it may be true for you as an opinion but it is a ridiculous statement if you believe it is a fact.

The facts of the matter are most pool players including all that gamble enjoy playing for an audience. This would include a lot of the greatest players in the world that are complete hams like Scott Frost, Alex Pagulayan, Tang Hoa, Ronnie Allen, etc. etc. Efren draws the biggest audiences whether he is in action or on the tournament trail.

Myself I enjoy playing in both tournaments and playing good action matches and I enjoy playing in front of audiences as do most of the people I compete against.

I only started playing 9 ball last year! Oh and I've never played 1 pocket, well about 5 games in my life so thats a sure no lose bet for you!

You can rob me at 1 pocket (I might learn something  ) and we could play 9 ball AND 8 ball too? :D
