I'm a fan of the Magic Rack and have a decent-sized case, but there's no real place to put the rack without folding it.
So I used to roll it around the forearm in a plastic sleeve and stick it in my case. Since the forearm is pointed upwards, my chances of it getting stuck in the case were slim, since I can see the sleeve around the butt at all times.
Things got the best of me, and the sleeve AND rack got stuck below the butt of my cue, pushed down towards the bottom of my case and crumpled together in a huge mess.
Now I couldn't use that butt slot because the magic rack and sleeve were pushing the butt higher than it was supposed to be, forcing the pin of the cue butt to stick out of the case. This unprotected my cues, now that I couldn't use the top latch to cover them.
So I tried several methods and found this one most useful. Thought i'd share in case anyone else has the same problem:
1. Find a long, thin pole that you can use to grab whatever is down there. I work as a Systems Engineer so we use a pole to run cabling.
2. Get a small allen key/hex key, and attached it to the end of the pole. Make sure it's wrapped with a strong adhesive, since you will be using it to pull whatever's down there up.
3. Insert the pole into your tube/slot for your butt/shaft, with the hook facing up. Guide it down until you get to what you want, and rotate the end of it so that it snags/hooks whatever is down there. Slowly bring it up-be careful not to tear the lining of your case (like I did-see the black stuff). The allen key should be small enough not to scrap the lining.
Use feel, don't get frustrated. I tried a ton of different methods until this worked. Hope it helps-
