Gambling has never been and will never be my main source of income. It seems to be the best measurement of improvement in my game. As such, whenever I win I'll just find a stronger player to test my skills against. I refuse to lose more then a portion of my discretionary income. But, in recent years, this has become substantial. This also affords me the opportunity to match up with higher caliber players (they don't often play for $5 / game)

I am well aware that the formula at best = break even and (per recent losses) can be costly. I have dedicated substantial time into practice and have improved dramatically.

This being said - Are matches decided prior to the coin flip?

Meaning - When negotiating games will the player trying to match up the hardest or has the strongest desire to play always going to be at a disadvantage?
