I'll Tell You What's Wrong With Grady Mathews

Grady is looking out for Grady, plain and simple. This latest spat over the 14.1 World Championships has nothing to do with what's good for pool or fans, only what's good for Grady.

If a promoter does an invitational tournament and doesn't invite Grady, then the tournament and the promoter can go to hell. Never mind that a 14.1 World Championship of any kind hasn't been held recently and someone's starting it back up might bring straight pool back into pool's consciousness. Never mind that the WPC has always been invitational, with qualifiers for non-invited players. Never mind that Grady chooses not to play in qualifiers because he feels he's "earned the right" to be invited to any damn invitational tournament on the planet. Never mind that Open tournaments tend to be logistical nightmares for tournament directors, promoters, fans, AND players (starting at 9 am and ending at 4 am be damned). Never mind that Grady already knows all this - he just wants to be invited, dammit!

Grady's like the little kid whose brother got some candy he didn't, so he's throwing a tantrum to try to get some, too.

I find it funny, with the new attitude around AZ of censorship and "fairness" that Grady gets to run amok and attack Charlie simply because Charlie didn't invite Grady to a tournament. Here's an idea, why doesn't Grady play in a qualifier if he wants to play so bad?

You just said "friggin" which is another way of substituting the word that you reported someone for simply using the letter to substitute.... What's the deal shorty? You can insinuate that word but others can't?

And I thought trashing other forum posters was against the new rules?!?!? Does Grady have to report it first?

Calm down, folks. C'mon...

IMO if your going to have a true 14.1 Championship, invitationally speaking, any player that is still playing at a top level, and has won a major 14.1 championship should get an invite. To exclude anyone that has a shot to win over politics can only overshadow the tournament. I'd hate to win, and have people say, "oh, but soandso did'nt play, so your not really the Champ".

It took me about two seconds to figure this out yesterday when I read Grady's original thread. As for Grady getting to run amok on the board, just look at the main forum right now, there is at least three or so threads initiated by Grady that have more to do with himself than pool. As long as the Mod's here on AZ continue to play favorites and let certain people bend the rules there will always be people here that will be on the constant warpath, virtually consequence free:(

Dieckman Hazz This To Say About Grady

First of all he is AN ICON, he is GRADY, nothing more, nothing less....
accept him for what he is, what he has done, forget his motives....they are the same as yours and mine, and if you deny that, you are a prevaracating MFer........GRADY has more LOVE FOR THE GAME in his little finger than most of us will ever know...and yes he has his failings, but so do you and so do I......lighten up.....when you have done as much for THE GAME [and thus for yourself] then you can criticize....until then it is best you remeber what Thumper said to Bambi: "IF YOU CAN SAY NOTHING NICE, THEN SAY NOTHING AT ALL !!!!" or something to that effect.
cheers,

Something like that... hmmm... now I'm disappointed. Can Vs. Can't.

I understand the post of the OP, but your's leaves me befuddled.

Remember: Say what you mean, not what you ment. Focus!

Tap! Tap ! Tap!

Excellent post, well stated. Grady Mathews lives, dies and breaths pool. He's given his whole life to the game.

Even Kevin Trudeau had enough smarts and heart to honor living legends (like Grady)and include them in his tournament.Classy move by Mr Trudeau. The sport of golf also honored their legendary pros like Nicklaus, Palmer, etc etc and including them in majors, when they were well past their prime. Why should pool be any different?

Guys like Grady have paid their dues to pool. It would be a classy move on pools part to give some back.

It is not my intention to stir the waters, but what I have to say probably will. So be it...

It's easy to read a post and think you have a clear understanding, but to get personal with a negative response about any individual only shows your ignorance.

To all the negative responding posters, try wearing Grady's shoes. Do you think you can? If so, give him a call and ask him to send you a pair to wear for awhile.

I hope he reads this post, because if he does get a call I'll bet he will send them to you.

And when he does put 'em on right away and then with a swift kick upside your head maybe you will come to your senses.

If you continue to post foolishness about others, please repeat this headkicking drill.

'scuse me but grady has ZERO shot at winning

Grady:

Glad you got in these qualifiers! Now bear down on these young guys. Shoot them all into a coma! Show them how the old school guys do it!

Best of luck!

Arnold Palmer, is invited to every golf tournament,in golf they show respect for the players that built the PGA. I wonder why in pool some people just shun the older players.
have a happy day
