I made this post in the DCC forum but so far, this one and the IPT are the only forums anyone is looking at. Soooooo, I'm going to make a double post. Besides, some people that aren't going to the DCC don't always read that forum....

I recently signed up for a promo deal where I get a free laptop. This was a little over a week ago & they said it could take up to 4 weeks so I'm currently holding my breath but.... If it does in fact arrive, I plan on getting a cellular card to where I can get internet service anywhere I can get a cellular signal. (I'm thinking this will be great at the Open & the DCC)

The AZ room is down a hallway and the room itself doesn't have any windows but I was able to get service with my current provider. If I can get service with my new provider in the room, I was thinking about getting a cheap webcam from Walmart and setting it up in the room.

We could broadcast our mini tournaments, challenge matches, show off our cues... all that fun stuff. Whatta ya think?? Do you computer guru's think it would work?? Would it be something those of you not able to make it would be interested in???

Just be careful of the telco charges, they could become horrendous depending on how they bill for the wireless. Any half-assed video signal sends a Brazillion bytes, and some wireless carriers charge by the mega/kilo/pico-byte. They may also charge by the minute/second. Anyway, these charges can add up especially under the application you suggest. It's a great idea though, perhaps the hotel has free wired Internet in the room ;)

Verizon Wireless

Verizon Wireless has an unlimited plan, and they have the fastest data network in the industry.

I should know, I am an RF Engineer for them. LOL

I would go with the unlimited plan. ;)

IIRC the DCC has wireless in the rooms only, not in the tourney room or the conference rooms.
