Hardly surprising. As a bit of a demon potter Joe was world amateur champion, and once held the record for the highest televised break, a 140 clearance in a pro-am tournament in my local area. After turning professional nothing much was heard of him until he won the world title as a rank outsider. No longer having to qualify for the big tournaments he spent the next year being knocked out in the first round of every one (I may exaggerate, but that's how it seemed) then lo-and-behold he reached the final of the very next world championship.

He's from Bradford I think, hence the South Yorkshire accent. You could spit from there to Sheffield so I expect it's just that he didn't travel well.

Yes Joe is indeed from Bradford, my old home town. I played at the same club as Joe back in the 90's.

If you want to watch the live snooker outside the UK you need to set up your browser to connect via a proxy server.
Here is a UK server that works ok for me.

129.12.3.74 Port 3128

Might i ask who is the other commentator?I believe he`s a former player also.
Thanks about the update on Joe:)

he is a good presenter, and he is switched on-but his accent is funny i'm listing right now

i asked about a sattlight dish, the guy said the problem is the sattalights arnt in the sky on our side of the pond, but perhaps he is wrong, i'm going to find a forum on the internet where there are some electronics geeks and get the info, i love Eurosport, i was here for 3 months last year.

You are probably referring to Terry Griffiths and he is Welsh, hence the lovely lilt.

European satellites obviously only beam to Europe. You should be able to find details of their footprints although you'd need to know which satellites carry the signal, but I would imagine they struggle to cover all of Europe (Northern Norway, Iceland etc) never mind anywhere else. You have no hope of receiving signals from a satellite which may not even be above the horizon from where you are.

I presume you mean who do I think will win. Higgins. I also like him. I'm at work on my lunchhour at the moment so wont catch any of the action until this evening. Just keeping an eye on the score for now. So far no walkovers.

I found it interesting to read the comments on the BBC website about it being another boring championship. I've lapped up every minute that I've watched. All the matches I've seen have been immense.

All they want is Ronnie or Hendry winning it. Or Mr. Interesting...:)
