I'm Sick of eBay Sellers Who...

I don't know what 'a lot' is for Seattle, having lived in Denver for several years, but it was a 'nice' snow - we walked around downtown last night and enjoyed it. This morning it was icy and the downtown office was closed.

But here's one reason I love Seattle: Friday when it snowed, we all sat in the coffee shop by the window, with the dog, and my kids did homework using the internet, and me and my buddy drank coffee.

Anything over 6" is considered a 'snow event'! Lol. They usually make a big deal of it all over the news, and then it normally doesn't materialize. This one took them by surprise.:D Since Saturday night, I think we wound up with pretty close to 18". Some of it rained off Sunday morning, and then it began again with a vengence in the early afternoon.

Yeah....we know how to enjoy our weather, no matter what it is.:D

Have you had your heat restored or are you still chilling?

Myron

Yep, finally got the heat back up and running late yesterday afternoon. Phone got fixed too. :)

It's supposed to start snowing again late today...and then the warmer temps are supposed to come back in, and it's supposed to start raining. Basically, we could be looking at flooding again...yeehaw!

Here is another one of those quitters listing their beautiful cue and ending the auction early. How DARE you use eBay that way!!!

We should all be lining up for the seller's 'behind the scenes, outside the rules' auction - no bidding, just 'ask the seller' offers. And if the seller agrees to sell to you, and he ends the auction and you send him the money, then he gets a better offer from someone else, well.....but that's never happened to anyone has it?

What's that cue worth. He had a $1500 bid on it. Probably got a buy it now offer and took it.. Maybe he originally had a buy it now and it disappeared when someone placed a bid.

It's kind of irritating to see ebay flooding with items for sale at retail prices. But then again, I've needed parts or supplies for my swimming pool or my sons laptop or whatever that I couldn't find anywhere else. It's just kind of a hassle to have to browse through all of the crap.

Runscott,
I think you are on to something. There should be a "Buy It Now" price, or have a "Make Offers" section. Regardless, sellers should have to pay additional fees if they close auctions early. This would simplify early closures that have developed over time. This would clean up loose ends and make it easier to buy items.

JK there already are fixed price buy it now listings with a submit best offer feature possible. You and the buyer also now get 3 chances to arrive at an acceptable price. I have been listing that way for a while now. I do get a lot of ridiculous offers. But it works well for me with production cues since I am willing to discount for quanity purchases.

You are saying that you condone Shill bidding?
Pulling an auction early seems pretty counter productive. We all know that most real bidding usually happens right at the end of an auction anyway.
Ebay has fixed price listings with an option to accept best offers. They now even give the buyer and the seller up to 3 oportunities to arrive at a final acceptable price. They will even let you set a minimum offer allowed offer price with no additional fee. I do not understand why more people are not using this feature.

I'm not condoning it, I can just understand is all. I've never done it, so I wouldn't know. But if the seller is too cheap to pay for the reserve price or is aware that it might scare some bidders away, than they take the gamble of having their shilll bid win the auction. Which in turn makes them pay a final listing fee. So they are paying for the reserve price one way or another. But this way they don't scare off all those that see the reserve price and just skip through it. So I can understand why they do it and I don't have a heart attack whenever it ends for a certain price and then is back up for sale.

Alternately, if prospective buyers could see the sellers history of ending auctions early in the same manner that they can view a sellers feedback history, perhaps fewer sellers would try to cheat the system.
