you see all these systems........then it seems when you hear pros talk about banking they always say they dont use a system they do it by feel. Well my banking used to be decent.....then it seemed like for a pretty good while my banking totally sucked, i would use the method where you make a point on the rail opposite the cueball then lay ur cue at an angle to the opposite pocket....etc

well for the last 2 months or so.....i really havent been using a system, I will look at the angle from the cue to the rail and then i will look at the angle from the pocket i want to shoot to.......then i just shoot the shot, and I swear my banking is the best its ever been. I dont know if this is a system or not, its more of a feel thing now, but I finally see what the pros mean.

I my experience playing with some very good bank pool players, most of them know banking systems but only use them in circumstances such as when they need to determine if a ball is blocking a bank lane. Other than those types of scenerios, they bank by feel. Speed is such an important part of banking, and banking systems really do not account for that factor. I liken it to a side hill putt in golf, there are several different putting lines you can use to make the putt depending on how much speed you will use. The other factor is english. The great bank pool players will twist in banks which is also a technique that throws the banking systems out the window. Just my $0.02.

Hey Scotty, that is a system. Sounds like it works fine. See you next month...randyg

Far be it for me to beat on my own drum, but I am going to do it anyway. My banking system that I describe simply and clearly in my bank pool instruction book, does include factoring in speed and english and whatever else might be needed, cloth, temperature, humidity, etc. My credentials include banking with the all the great bankers from your town (Cinncinnati), Joey and Gary Speith, Donny Anderson, and Clem Metz. However, once you have absorbed all the knowledge of pool physics and systems, the final step is feel! But the greater your pool background knowledge, is what determines how far feel can take you.

Beat your own drum Freddy. The book is well worth the money you ask for it! WELL WORTH IT! I bank very well, and did before I got Freddy's book, but there are some things in the book that are essential to know, especially if you're going to try to elevate your banking skills beyond the occassional bank shot in 9 ball to the kind of banking skills necessary to play bank pool.

IMHO... This is a great book! Has helped my banking drastically. Once you understand everything that goes into a bank... speed, english, angle... it makes it much easier to bank by feel.

Thanks Freddy!

Not possible. The angle off the rail is determined, path of the cue ball after the bank is determined and affecting english are absolutes. Their own personal system they developed over time, whether shared or not.

The feel part has to do with the speed of the shot, how the rail will react and where the cue ball is going.

Yes you have developed a system and sounds like it is working very well for you. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you Freddy, I am slowly going through your book right now. Excellent! I have always felt that once a person learns basic systems ( and yours seems to include all facets) then and not until then feel starts to enter the game. "Feel" is the accumulation of knowledge gained and stored.

I'm also planning on buying your book Freddy. It sounds like it's great from what I've heard. And yes, I do use "banking systems" along with "feel" to bank. Too bad DM's not here to hear that.

You said it "poifect" Gerald

"Feel" is the accumulation of knowledge gained and stored.[/QUOTE Gerald
I couldn't have said it better myself. You could "feel" from now until Judgement Day, but if there isn't anything to draw upon... as they say in computer talk, garbage in garbage out.
