Implex

My 1st cue was a McDermott.
I've always liked the way they play. Over time I gravitated to custom cues.
My question is implex still available to buy or use.
What material would be close to implex.
Thanks

I may be reading this wrong, but is your thought process that the implex joint collar what made the cue feel like it did?

I've had several examples of the old Meucci Originals, from my experience about half of the shaft joints or butt ringworm failed. Either by splitting or cracking even the butt caps had issues. I asked a dealer in the '80's about it and he said it was the implex Bob was using at the time. Idk if it's true or not, it's just what I was told.

This is what one plastics supplier says about it in their catalog:

OVERVIEW of Implex®- Impact Grade Acrylic

Implex® (Plexiglas SG) Imapact Acrylic Sheet Impact offers good impact resistance along with excellent weatherability, clarity, and processing characteristics.

Developed primarily for the sign industry, this impact sheet combines the well-known weatherability of acrylic with proprietary impact-resistant chemistry. These properties, along with outstanding thermoforming characteristics, provide a superior material for signage applications.

Implex® Plexiglas SG Impact Modified Acrylic Sheet offers impact strength eight times greater than standard acrylic sheet. And because it's an acrylic, Implex® sheet maintains its UV stability, brilliance and clarity for years, making it an outstanding choice for outdoor conditions. Available in various sheet sizes, Implex® thicknesses range from 0.093" to 0.354". It is available in in clear or color.

No idea is that was used in cues, or if (a?) cuemaker hi-jacked the name for a different plastic. For instance, "Implex" seems to be widely available in sheet material. But if you look in rods and tubes, it reverts to more common "acrylic" (without the listed super-duper powers)
Or maybe Plexiglas ((reg) ripped off a cuemaker's brilliant product name idea? :)

A lot of those failed because
1- No glue rings. Smooth on smooth wouldn't be my choice.
2- Glue used.

Yes, that was my thought. Several have mention meucci may have used it and maybe players cues.
I had a very old Mc Dermott.
One thing I noticed is they are all sleaved joints but the Mc Dermott cues I believe had thicker wall on the joint.
