I have to say I wasn't going to do it, but finally decided to pick a piece of Kamui chalk.

I must say im impressed with 1.21 chalk and how less I have to chalk and like the grib it puts on the cue ball. Is it worth $27? prolly not to many, but I'm sold. I use a pooldawg8 milk dud and I must say the combo together on my cue is deadly. Just thought id let people know what I thought is all.

Oh yea... Did I mention I never miscue now :nanner: just kidding im sure I eventually will :wink:
 
i bought the original version a year and a half ago. i just swipe it across my tip before every shot and although i have played 4 nights a week for 1 1/2 years with the same cube it was not wore half way down yet.

some low life swiped it out of my chalk holder today at a tournament. i had to resort to chalking with drilled out master cubes the rest of the tournament.

although i have never had a problem miscuing with any shot i found myself playing more conservative with master chalk. i just dont trust spinning the cueball for position with masters like i do with kamui. kamui seems to grip the cueball better allowing me to hit farther from center cueball when required on certain shots.

guess i will be trying the new version this week since some low life lifted my chalk today, still had a years worth of use on it. damn !!
 
Is it just me that doesn't notice any difference between kamuii and blue diamond? I bought a cube back when it first came out and went back to blue diamond after a few months.

Granted, its meant to last a long time, but that's based on only having to chalk once per 1 or 2 racks...but shot 1 would feel different to shot 9 or 18 so I found my self chalking every shot like normal.

I'm waiting for kamuii to fill the niche in the cue market...$100,000 - $100,000,000 price range for a cue that does slighly better than a $1000 cue.

Like I said for some people they dont notice any difference between any chalk, with the exception of silver diamond. Kamui chalk is not for everyone but im digging it a lot, in the long run its probably my stroke thats at fault not the chalk. But getting better grip with less effort has me sold. Granted I have not used blue diamond before, ive heard its good but extremely hard and gritty? All I know is im loving Kamui and like how silky it goes on and stays applied to the tip. There would be one more chalk I would like to try but its hard to find... Cosmo, I hear it blows everything else out of the water, even Kamui.:cool:
 
Something to add but to my knowledge there are many people claiming that Kamui chalk is messy and that it leaves harsh marks on the CB. From what ive seen at least with the 1.21, its less messy than masters also the lighter color is less visible on cloth and the CB. Just that id share.

Yeah blue diamond isn't as soft as the kamui but its not gritty. It does leave slight spots on the CB, as does every chalk of its colour.

I much prefer a dark chalk to say a light grey chalk, purely because it shows on the CB and cloth so I know when to clean either. Nothing worse than having a clean looking CB when its got chalk spots on it and getting a bad connection on a key ball.

I understand everyone has their own preferences, kamui master and blue diamond the three best I've used. Kamui and BD are a step above but its hard justifying the price of one cube compared to a chalk just as good for a fraction of the price.
 
I've never understood the issue with cost on the Kamui. If you play once per week, that's 52 times per year. Playing at that rate, a cube would likely last the entire year. So that's approximately 50 cents cost for chaulk every time you play. If the Kamui chalk provides even the slightest advantage, seems to be me one would use it.

I recently purchased the .98 and have used it several times and normally use Blue Diamond. It definitely goes on easier and smoother. It clearly lasts longer. Does it provide more friction between the tip and CB, allowing the player to put more spin on the CB? If so, it is a minor amount, it certainly isn't a glaring difference. A more noticeable difference is how easily it coats a hard break tip (Samsara) which that alone makes it worth buying IMHO. I haven't tried it on a phenolic tip but would imagine a similar result with that tip.
 
It could very well be that Kamui chalk provides a confidence in ones stroke at the table for what that claim. If thats the fact, even so ill gladly spend another $27 for a piece of chalk.

Although I do feel like im getting more action and can juice the CB more with Kamui, its comes down to facts. Chalk provides the best friction point from the tip to the CB, if the calk isent staying applied to the cue tip or for very long, your going to get slippage, plain and simple.

For me Kamui takes care of that, it stays on and dosent glass or glaze over, it simple stays chalky meaning its not caky like some chalks. I chalk less frequently and enjoy when I have to mental or not :rolleyes:
 
Ok, I dare to jump into this post just to share my last year experience:

At first I heard and read (on this forum and around) about kamui .98

Than I bought it, and gave it a 6 month trial period.

The feeling is immediately different (good for me, but it's highly personal!)

BUT......I did underestimate it was cutting my PSR!! (before, didn't even notice I HAD ONE!! lol)
So, I started tu use the .98 as any othe chalk.......useless to say, it eat down the chalk a lot, and start to leave serious chalk coating on CB AND OB!!!

Than, I didn't want to pull up , so I've heard the 1.21 was slightly similar, but less "silky", so one could use as "normal....

Result: I got it! :-)

And? Well , as for feedback, I prefer the .98!

But I have to admit, after 1 year, I'm back to Blue Diamond.

What's interesting is that after one year of Kamui, I have a new confidence, and now I can make all the same drills I didn't dare before, with the BD!!

Worth? You to judge!!! For me , overall, yes!

Just my 0.02 cents!

I hope I have the same experience, that would be great. But I totally agree about the confidence that it provides behind the stick :clapping:
