In case you missed it...

I never heard much back from it. Thanks for your efforts Edwin. I always thought it was a particularly clever scam even though I got taken. Everyone want's to be on Efren's bandwagon and so if not him then the next rising Filipino star...yada yada yada. That was years ago though and Dennis Orcullo didn't really start making a splash until now. Boy was I gullible. Can I have some of those Wal-Mart cues please? :-)

I also lost a case to a guy pretending to have a magazine reviewing billiard equipment. Oh well, advertising expense.

John

I forgot about the Dennis escipade. I think I am the only one of us that did not get taken on that deal. I was about to ship out a cue to him when Arnot told me that he had just sent out a cue to "Dennis". I guess I was lucky that UPS ran late that day.

You're welcome John. You're welcome Arnot. f there's anything I can do, just holler. Thank you too.

The problem Jay was that the negativity was there from the beginning which lead to more responses and more negativity. You also jumped in to add salt to the discussion with a post that had absolutely nothng to do with the actual topic. That topic was the experience of one person who lucked into a good shaft from Wal-Mart.

The discussion was civil, well as civil as an internet discussion board gets, until you jumped in with a post concerning Kevin Varney's business practice.

I believe your comment was about how he takes a $20 cue and makes it into a $250 jump/break cue.

Now tell me, how was this related to the topic of a Wal-Mart shaft?

My post was in response to your post where I simply pointed out that that most cuemakers take wood or blanks bought from distributors, bought at a lower cost, and turn them into high end cues.

So what?

If Kevin has the skill and ability in taking taking something that cost $20 and turns it into a good hitter, which from the posted reviews of his cues seem to reflect, then why isn't he allowed to charge $250 for it?

My post about ignoring my initial post was once I realized that you have a personal issue with Kevin, which seemed to have shown up in the apology thread also, and in which I didn't want to get involved.

Choice of Champions - I doubt that. There are many many cuemakers in this country that have put tips on professional pool player's cues, myself included and you don't see all of them calling themselves the "Choice of Champions". You might be the choice of one champion that lives near you for tip replacement but it seems to me that she did fine before you ever put a tip on one of her cues.

To make a free cue for anyone is not a "Claim to Fame" in my opinion. Now, if she ordered and paid for a cue from you and used it regurarly, that might be another story. What is the whole story?

When I first started out I made some cues for pros and later found out that some of them sold them when they needed money. Some of the professional players that did me wrong are: John Ditoro from Florida, Hunter Lombardo whom I used to sponsor, and Tommy Kennedy. At least Tommy Kennedy played with one of my cues for quite some time before he "gave it away" and I saw it on Ebay.

I was never stupit enough to give a cue to Jose Parica.

I will NEVER give another cue to anybody.

I've done cue work for Johnny Archer and Corey Deuel and a host of others...I suppose I should go from Wannabe cuemaker to Choice of Champions...LOLz
