in-house table construction

Hi all,
I recently bought a house with a perfect space for an 8' table, but unfortunately the staircase leading down there is too narrow to fit a table through. Even a pre-built frame wouldn't make it, so I need to either find a table with a frame that can be split into 2-3 pieces and then reassembled or else to have one actually constructed inside my house. Do any of you know of companies which do that kind of construction? I've looked around but haven't found anything yet.

Thanks.

I know the earlier 8' Gold Crowns (if you can find one) you could break em down and store em in a closet if you wanted to.

In the basement

A friend of mine in Melbourne Australia wanted a table in his basement so much that he dug out the dirt surrounding his basement, opened the block wall, put the 12' snooker table thru the opening, then put everthing back. He REALLY wanted to have it where he wanted. It is a magnificent table to play on "In his basement"!

kd frames

Most, not all, table manufactures make a table that the frame comes apart. They refer to it as KD (knock down) I have only seen a few lines of modern tables that do not break down. A lot of the antiques would not break down.

Diamond Professional tables also break down small enough that you would not have a problem.

Brunswick table's come in piece's should be no problem getting into the room. And most company's if there table frame come's in 1 piece tey casn build K/D so you can get it to the room.

Proline

Proline has K/D tables and they owned by a guy that used to work for Brunswick. They are cheaper and better put together than the Brunswicks. In my opinion.

Cool, thanks everybody. I thought the frames on most tables were just fixed - good to know I can get a KD table and have a choice of where to get it.
