Hello,


I guess I know this is really not the place to put this thread but the people that would know of him are in this section. I am sad to inform that a great man Billy Amoroso has passed away yesterday. I had a lot of great conversations with him over the "old school" times and players. He was one of the nicest people I have ever met and he will be missed. May you be at that grand pool hall in the sky, Runnin racks on snooker tight diamonds. You are missed my friend.

Billy a super nice player

Billy never said anything bad about anybody.
Billy was always happy and easy going.
Because Billy worked in poolrooms for many years he knew everyone and everyone was his friend.
He helped alot of folks with their games even when he knew they were hopeless.
I will rember him for his smile and of course his leather hats.
Billy will be missed. He was one of my favorites.
He will be in my prayers.

I remember talkin to billy about all different types of pool cues.. and players in the 70s... you kinda expected billy to be at all the thursday night tounaments and the saturday ones too... he will be missed....
 
i honestly don't you can find anyone that didn't think billy was one of the nicest people they have ever had the pleasure to meet and walk through life with. he was a fixture at all of the rooms in the northwest florida area for as long as i can remember. we would sit around and talk about all the old timers we knew and, of course, all the stories that went with them. in all those years, i never heard him say a cross word about anyone. he will be sadly missed, but never forgotten.

That name rings a bell but I just can't picture his face. He hung out at Starcade Billiards? Can you describe him a bit?

billy was from pensacola and attended just about all the tourneys at starcade. he was tall and slim and always wore some type of leather hat. he had indian features and wore his hair long, usually two pigtails. most of all, he loved pool and loved talking about game theory and all the players he had seen through his life around pool. again, he will be missed but not forgotten.

i dont know how i missed this thread but Billy is the main person behind me starting to play this game... when i was 21 i was hanging out at starbucks here in pensacola and he started showing me the finer points of the game... he put the bug in me and for that i am forever in his debt... i never saw him when he didnt have a smile on his face, and i loved running into him wherever i went... im proud to say he was one of my friends, and i always considered him to be my mentor when i was starting to play.

you will be missed by everyone billy, Rest in Peace, buddy.

i am glad this thread came up again. they (the powers that be) held a memorial tourney for billy to help his family and it seemed to be a success. his mother and sister were there, so the proceeds were given to them. in addition, robin workman, from starcade billards, took donations from the players there, in memory of their friend billy. i am glad that i was considered a friend of billy's and he will be sadly missed.
